I've started listening to a band called Tadpol, and its pretty good.

There's a local Portland band called Pink Martini that I think is awesome. Their music is a mix of styles, with jazz, latin, swing, and classical influences.

Next to The Police, Arcwelder is my favorite band. They're a 3 piece out of Minneapolis and you can hear some of the influence of bands like Husker Du. I definitely recommend these guys, and if you really want to hear some of their best work, pick up their CD "Pull".
