I don't know about others, but i don't drink water with dinner because I am thirsty. Some foods are too dry to eat solo and water helps smooth things over. I don't really have the patience to keep chewing and emitting saliva for minutes on end for a single bite of food.

if it's your taste i think sparkling water isn't bad, especially very cold. I've replaced my soda (save when 'drinking') with sparkling water.

I drink a gallon of water a day, sometimes more. I'm at the point where drinking everything else just feels like a waste of energy, I need water to quench my thirst.

Might as well drink a coke and take a vitamin C pill.

The variety of sugars in oranges is different from that of Coke, not to mention the fact that the acid in oranges helps in keeping your blood sugar stable. There are also a plethora of other nutrients in oranges than Vitamin C, and a Vitamin C pill is not the same thing as naturally occuring Vitamin C. Still, you shouldn't be drinking more than a glass or two a day, just saying orange juice is nowhere near as unhealthy as soda.

All I drink is water. I don't much want anything else except maybe a frap or something as a very rare treat.

OK then take a multi although the other nutrients found in OJ aren't likely to be missing in a regular diet. It is definately not something I would include in a weight loss plan. Even two glasses a day........

OJ

Coke...

Yeah, for weight loss you're right, two glasses a day adds up along with everything else one eats. I just wanted to draw a distinction between orange juice and soda.

other than water i like to get real cranberry juice and mix 1/4 cup with 3/4 cup of water (it must be 100% pure though), green tea, all herbal teas without decaf are 100% okay and club soda once in a while.. gotta get the low sodium though.

Well...weight loss is the point of this thread isn't it?

I agree with you, OJ has great nutrional benefits, but weight loss isn't one of them.

Water, alot of it.
No diet soda or store bought juices. If you want to drink juice, buy a juicer and make it yourself.
Try not to consume a lot of (or any) artificial sweetners. (aspartame, sucralose, ect..)

Its pretty sad that so few people drink water. Why is it something that people have to "get used to" drinking? I drink water pretty much all day and have never had a hard time doing so. I drink soda every once in a while and beer on the weekends, but water is free, good tasting, and good for me. What's not to like? Imaging 100 years ago when you were lucky to have clean water, people are so spoiled now that they turn their noses up at water like its out-dated.
Compared to 100 years ago, the water may not be likely to kill you any more, but that doesn't mean that it tastes particularly good compared to what other liquids are available now. A lot of people don't have access to good water, with their sources being poor quality tap water high in chlorine and minerals, and overpriced bottled water which still doesn't taste all that good.

All I normally drink is water. I use skim milk to mix my protein shakes if my calories for the day will allow it. I also have a diet soda from time to time. It's a nice treat when you have been drinking nothing but water and milk for awhile.

Water, water, water. Can't stress it enough. I'm up to about 3/4ths of a gallon a day I believe. You feel good, and it arguably quenches your thirst better than any other drink. You can drink as much as you want because it's 0 calories and usually doesn't have any additives.

I also drink fruit-protein smoothies that I make myself. I don't add sugar to it, but it doesn't taste bad to me because my tastebuds have not become dull from drinking too many sweet drinks. I add ice, protein, about 1/4th cup 2% milk, and frozen fruit of choice.

I've seen some research on aspartme, an additive for diet sodas, and from what I've seen it doesn't look good. I would steer clear of diet sodas if I were you.
