What are some good running shoes? ***Got me some New Balance 714***

I'm looking for some new running shoes. Specifically, shoes that have lots of padding in them near to the toes. The ball of my foot hurts like hell, like a bunyan just right under my big toe. I've figured out that it's the shoes I'm wearing. I have a little bit wider feet also. Which brand offers the best cushion? I could possibly do a cheaper pair and get some insole padding, but do those things actually work? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

***EDIT***
Bought me some New Balance 714 shoes. Testing them out tonight. Woohoo! ^_^

Insoles eh? So what's the price range I'm looking at for insoles? Expensive ones ($20+) as good as cheap ones ($5-$10)?

If you have wide feet..you might want to check out New Balance..

They sell shoes in different width sizes (along with different length sizes like every one else)

They're Good shoes, too 🙂

i love my nike air triax internationals....most comfortable pair of shoes i've had in forever....and i've spent the past few months trying to get my hands on some again since my old ones finally died.....found them at foot action, ~90, not so bad for very nicely cushioned running shoes

I found out of all the shoes I tried, the Reebok DMXs felt the best for walking/jogging. For the price, New Balance is also pretty good but again, you really should try a few pairs of shoes rather than take advice from someone who's not you. 🙂

Thanks for the information guys/gals! New Balance is good for wide feet. Adidas is really good for running also, I've been using Adidas for the last 2-3 years.

i use new balances for my daily run. good stuff. Whenever i use my nike air max cross trainers they kinda hurt my knees. maybe its bad cushioning or something i dont' know, but the new balances don't hurt at all.

Everyone's feet are different. Go with what feels good with yours. Go to a local shoe store *not sport mart or Big 5* and get advice. The small local shops will give you the advice you need since they can see how you run and such.

What he said...I've tried most of the major brands (never tried Saucany's) and each one is different. For me, I prefer New Balance and Asics. Nike's never fit my feet right and I always get blisters.

Running cross country as a high school senior, the only running shoe I'll EVER buy again is Asics. I've run for 3.5 years, and the only shoe I ever got for running that wasn't Asics was a pair of crappy Adidases.

If you're looking for nice cushioning and good support, definitely get a pair of Asics made for trail running. Not only are they the coolest looking shoes they make, but they'll give you great arch and heel support too.

Asics, Mizunos (sp?), New Balance, Brooks, and Saucony are the majority of the shoes my cross country team wears. I personally prefer Saucony because of the Stabils, decent arch support and good motion control, but try on a shoe and see what feels good.

Yes!!! I take EEEE ones, NB makes them at least this wide.

I have tried on running shoes and while I usually wear basketball shoes, I found Saucony to be one of the best running shoes... Asics is also kick ass..

I'd say go either Asics or Saucony

Yeah...I'm a wide-footed freak and I've never found another shoe as comfortable as New Balances...

Yeah i ran in xc in high school too, and the brand of choice was definitely asics. If you over pronate like me, the GT line is best. I ran with the 2030's, 40's, and 50's. I think they may be up to the 70's, but I dunno. I found them slightly lacking on the comfort side, but the support was excellent. I recently bought some nike shox but they looked sw33t 😛, but they are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. But for the price of one of those you could get 2 pairs of asics, so go with those
