What are some good PC RPGs and FPSs/action games?

Topic. Can either be recent or classic, i just want good PC RPG and FPS recommendations, it'd be better if they're exclusive to the PC as well.

Any suggestions?

The best computer RPG's are the Baldurs Gate series, the Neverwinter Nights series (if you like them, which I dont, but they ARE pretty epic), Deus Ex and Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. KOTOR 2 was a mess but still lots of fun.
All of the above have been placed on the console but they suck ass, so I consider them to be PC exclusive because thats the only place they are playable.

I agree with the Baldur's Gate series and NWN 1 in that the tons free community made games are well worth the price.

I'll add that though they aren't the greatest in graphics but for sheer fun NOX (if you can find it) and especially Divine Divinty (which from all accounts Larian Studios is going back and revising it). DD 2 will be released right after Christmas and looks very promising.

Gothic 1, 2, and 3 (as long as the latter is patched with community 1.73; 1 and 2 the game controls take some time to get used to).

Risen which just has been released and Dragon Age which looks like a real winner.

Not FPS in the classical sense per se but if you can get them to run Thief 1 and 2.

I just got into NOLF.

I've actually had it awhile, but never played to far into it.
It's actually a pretty decent game, even though the graphics are a little bit dated.

The Witcher ruined every other PC RPG I thought was good by showing me what they were lacking in terms of writing.

Deus Ex is a must-play hybrid of the two genres that stands as a shining example of what game development SHOULD produce.

STALKER is a shooter with some basic equipment stats and an inventory system that is more a character study about creating amazing atmosphere.

Might and Magic VI : The Mandate of Heaven! (warning: pre-3dfx first person RPG) one of my favorite games of all time but i cant stand playing it these days.
for 3DFX goodness, get Might & Magic 7 which was also great.

how old are you? were you around for the first Diablo? Diablo II?

there are alot of Turn Based Strategy RPGs. my favourites: Heroes of Might and Magic series (2-5), Age of Wonders 2, King's Bounty from last year, Fantasy Wars (a 1C game) was great but can be frustratingly difficult at times. (it was inspired by Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat)

hack'n'slashers: Diablo I & II, Sacred (i haven't played 2 yet), Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege (i only played 2 which was epic).

Square released The Last Remnant to the PC last year which is a great tactics based RPG if you like japanese games, and if you do, get Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for the PC as well.

all Bioware games.

what i am forgetting?

You know me - I'd second the Gothic series all day long.

And don't forget the Thief series if you can find it. Great stealth-base fps gameplay with a really good lead character.

ps - forgot FEAR, probably my favorite fps.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (aka Arcanum) Troika Games, August, 2001.

Some of the Fallout 1 & 2 guys worked on it.

google for user mods

K, i've gotten the RPGs selected:

Baldurs Gate 1 and 2
Deus Ex
Fallout Collection
Icewind Dale 1 and 2
KOTOR
NWN 1
Planescape: Torment
System Shock 2
Witcher

Good list?

Mass Effect is kinda like an RPG with FPS elements. It's a great game.

The story and voice acting are good but the inventory system and combat system suck bad.

i liked combat. the inventory system was pretty bad though.

Don't forget Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines! Just get one of the latest community patches, probably the Wesp one, which I think is up to 6.4 now.
