What are some good multiplayer games for 1 on 1?

What would be some good games for a friend and I to play one on one? I've tried playing like Half-Life and stuff, but it just takes forever to find each other and then the fun is over in 5 seconds. Sports are okay, but not really my style.

well... yeah.
Cant post the "Do Her In The Butt" things anymore. They stopped that, awhile ago actually. IT now results in a vactaion.

Unless I am totaly wrong and that is an acronym for a game...

I would try Tribes 2 Arena. Mucho fun. Easy to learn, hard to master, and even easier to find each other. If you can't find him with a big ass red arrow over his head, you got problems.
