What are some good moving companies?

Well I'm hoping to move into a new place this Friday and I'm strongly considering using a moving company this time around. I can't count the times I've smashed fingers and feet helping friends move fridges, stoves and washers. This time I think I'll let someone else do all the heavy lifting. Anyone have some suggestions on a good moving company? And what do they normally cost?

I am going to move from Massachusetts to California. Anybody has moving company, car moving company for reference? Thanks.

I used Mayflower for a cross country move and was very happy with their service. A couple things got damaged but they gave me money, no questions asked. It's all kind of hit or miss though. If you get a good local office you will be ok, otherwise your life will become a living hell.

PipBoy, thanks for the May Flower information. I will follow your recommendation to find a local moving company, since this way I can get them to come to house to give me a quote.

kranky, the article makes me scared. Moving is really a pain, especially with all these pitfalls. Now I plan ship my Dell Desktop and 19" P991 through UPS to my new address instead of moving company. Maybe I can buy a LCD next time.
