Lookin at newegg to buy a new computer for my buddy but I guess I've been out of the loop for a little while.

So what are you suggestions? This is for a fairly top end computer.

Also on the only Nforce 415 listed in stock it says VGA FUNCTION NOT INCLUDED

what does that mean??

If anybody cares to enlighten me, thank you.

A7V333 is nice...its got loads of nice features..2 USB 1.1 4 USB 2.0, Fire Wire , RAID , Q FAN, enhanced Thermal CPU Protection......

it means that no video is on that board. its just the nforce chipset, with the audio chip onboard. no video at all.

that board is rock stable. i own the 420 chipset, rad chipset i must say.

I bought an Abit KR7A 133 Raid. It has 6 PCI and four DIMM slots for maximun upgradability. One of the fastest and most stable boards whether you O/C or not.

The Raid features allows you to connect up to 8 IDE devices that is if you don't set up a raid array of course.

You can find many reviews on the net on this board, I read them all 😀 and there seems to be a consensus.

Whatever you get, good luck.

the nforce 420 had a geforce mx2 equivalent video on the motherboard along w/ the audio etc. the nforce 415 offers all the other features of the nforce 420 w/o the video.

you have to put ur own video card in there. the nforce 415 by asus is probably the best motherboard available for athlon cpus right now. the asus nforce board offers built in thermal protection (if the cpu thermister reports temperatures that are too high the motherboard will shut the cpu down).

the nforce 415 is also one of the fastest performers available right now as well.

i got one on order 🙂.

I have to agree, the ASUS A7N266-C (nForce 415-D chipset) is your best bet. It's fast, stable, well priced, and it has thermal shutdown protection (similar to ASUS A7V333?) included.

I've been using Iwill KK266 (There's also a RAID version. It's very stable.
KT133A chipset, SDRAM PC133 (since I don't have any DDR stick)

If you go with a NForce board make sure you get two sticks of ram so you can take advantage of its dual channel technology.

If you are going 'high end' I wouldn't do NForce. Check out the Soltek Purple Ray V5 at Newegg. It's a sweet board and cheap too.
