To be serious though, Gin and tonic with a slice of lime is good. Whiskey and coke is good. That's about all I know... I'm more of a cheap beer + vodka guy.

im a big fan of "old timey" cocktails...classic stuff people used to drink. dont like college shots... but any -bomb style drink (liquor dropped in beer) are pretty good

A "beautiful" - Hennessey and Grand Marnier

If you weren't driving I'd say have the most expensive liquor available straight up til you can't see straight... gotta love open bar.

My favorite cocktail is a tequila gimlet.

errr what kind of tequila? Good tequila should be enjoyed like a good scotch or cognac in a snifter. neat.

Since when does an open bar have premium tequila? It's most likely going to be well stuff or cuervo (which I sure as hell wouldn't drink neat).

edit: oh and OP Alabama Slammers are great, Amaretto Sour, Whiskey Sour, Cherry Vodka Sour. I am sure I will think of some others soon.

the club I work at offers a top shelf open bar for 60 bucks. This will get you premium spirits not super premium.

Okay, I am thinking open bar as in wedding or party. I don't know anyone that goes out to drink and stays at the same place all night so an open bar would be a good idea for them. then again, I don't know anybody that goes to bars with naked women.

Whiskey. Neat. Bourbon, scotch, whatever. Water is an acceptable, if brutish, mixer.

:)

In all seriousness, I usually drink gin & tonics, jack daniels/jim beam and coke, or rum and coke (I like Sailor Jerry's the best). If I'm drinking Scotch I do like it on the rocks, though, if it's halfway decent. I look for drinks that get the job done without a lot of unnecessary additions.

My wedding drink of choice is Vodka Cranberry (aka Cape Cod). You can drink it like water.

I can drink gin&tonics 'till they make me stop. Bombay sucks, though. You've gotta go cheaper or more expensive.

A buddy and I used to drink regular (or double) Dr. Peppers like water back in our restaurant days.
