Kinda ironic b/c of that other thread about living without a phone going on now, but I'll post anyway. I broke my Lucent Tech. phone by being rough with it (well, it lasted for four years). I'm ready to go up to 2.4 GHz, preferablly a phone I can take with me to college. I'd like for it to be 2 lines, have caller ID (better if its on the handset and on the base, but not necessay), have a speakerphone (dual keypad maybe, not that important), be able to do conference calls, perhaps an answering machine, and BE DURABLE. Another thing that would be nice if the volume on the speakerphone could be turned up loud enough so that when I'm on hold I can hear the junky elevator music :) If you don't have any specific models to recommend, just give me your experience with a particular brand...Also, do you think I can get a phone like this for $100-150? Any other features I should look for? I don't really ever see me using a handset cause I can always just hold the phone or use speakerphone, but maybe that capability is really nice? Thanks in advance

Here's some reviews. If you find any good deals on Staples.com OfficeDepot.com or OfficeMax(.)com let me know, they all have coupons and I can save you anywhere from $15 up to $50 off your purchase.

Amazon.com ALL 2.4GHz cordless phones sorted by bestselling first.

ePinions.com 2.4 GHz cordless phone reviews.

I'm a strong Panasonic cordless phone supporter however I have heard their normal 2.4 GHz cordless phones aren't all that great and to avoid them :(

Before you buy anything, check out your local CostCo they usually have a good selection and great prices. Plus you can't beat their return policy!

Here's a listing Panasonic 2.4 GHz cordless phones from their website.

Do you really need a 2 line cordless? If you can forgo that, a lot more choices will be available for you.

Of those models, only these four have speakerphone (a VERY handy feature if you're calling your bank, Dell, or the US Government):

KX-TG2563B $179.95 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme Spread Spectrum (SST) Cordless Phone with Digital Duplex Speakerphone and Caller Waiting Caller ID1 black color

KX-TG2563F $199.95 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme Spread Spectrum (SST) Cordless Phone with Digital Duplex Speakerphone and Caller Waiting Caller ID1 blue color

KX-TG2563S $179.95 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme Spread Spectrum (SST) Cordless Phone with Digital Duplex Speakerphone and Caller Waiting Caller ID1 silver color

KX-TG2563W $199.95 2.4 GHz GigaRange® Extreme Spread Spectrum (SST) Cordless Phone with Digital Duplex Speakerphone and Caller Waiting Caller ID1 white color

LOL I guess that's actually one model just offered in four different colors. I'd get silver, black, blue or white.

I'm more than pleased with my vTech 2431 phone and additional handsets. The features on this thing are great, the sound quality is perfectly clear, and the range is so good, I gave up after walking two blocks down the street and never lost the signal.

Plus, each handset has a built in speaker phone with really goos sound quality. You can hit the speaker phone button on the handset, set it down on the table and hold conversation. It's great for when you're on hold.

On the reviews RossMan put up, I see a whole host of ridiculous complaints. Most of which are due to user stupidity.

One guy complains there is no speed dial on the handsets. BS, there is. I have over 20 numbers stored in my handsets.

Another person complains that the range sucks. BS. I walked over 500 yards away from my house down a curved street. The reception was clear as a bell.

Still another person complains about battery life. Mine lasts for a week without charging, and no use, or two days with regular use. How much more do you want with a phone this small and light?

Another person complains that the menu is confusing. WTF??? This thing is as simple if not more so than a standard Nokia phone. You'd have to be a complete idiot to be confused by it.

And finally, a person complains it has no "stutter tone voice mail notification." GOOD! That's what the blinking light on the handsets mean, dipwad! That notifies you of voice mail and stops the stutter tone so your faxes and modems will work.

In short, people are idiots. :)

Well, I was just browsing through officemax, officedepot and staples - to get a 2 line 2.4 GHz its mega $ :). I may just get a one line phone and get a cheesy one line cordless phone for the other line. Or do I want 2.4 GHz? Decisions, decisions....:)

Boys and their toys.

Here's a pretty sweet looking Uniden I'd first read the reviews. Wow it's $149 at OfficeMax but only $119 from Amazon.com and I think I have a $15 off $100 coupon. Here's 4 reviews of this phone.

You know those four colors I listed above? I found the Panasonic TG2563S for $120 with free shipping (after $30 off $150 coupon) from Staples.com

My roommate has an excellent Toshiba 2.4 GHz cordless phone but it's short on features, no dual keypads, no speakerphone, no built in answering machine but I've used it and it's crystal clear, strong signal, overall a great phone just lacking in features.

We have the Sony SPP-A2780 and love it. It has a corded handset, as well as a cordless phone. A MUST for me because I always run out the batteries and forget to recharge. It also comes in a cordless only version.

I've only owned 2 brands of 2.4s. vtech and panasonic. the vtech was packed with features. not too many phones even come close. only problem was the range. it really sucked. my 8 year old 900 mhz had double the range this 2.4 had. you can check epinions and see that i'm not the only one complaining about the range of this phone. Check epinions out for my opinion of the phone.

The panasonic didn't have anywhere close to as many features but the range was great. i got over a block of crystal clear calling but returned it because it didn't have even some basc features like a hold button.
