I'm visiting my brother in PA and decided to get an xbox finally after a while of trying to decide whether I should or not. Now I'm just trying to find one or two good games that 2 people can play. He has PS2 and a bunch of sports games, so any football, hockey, soccer, basketball, or baseball games are pretty much out of the question. I was thinking maybe Ninja Gaiden? Is multi-player any good? How bout some fictional sports type games? Are there any decent ones for xbox? Is there an NFL Blitz for xbox? He's never played that and it would probably make for some funny drunken gaming.

I'm open to suggestions for other types of games... he doesn't really like RPG's so keep that in mind with your suggestions.

I was thinking Halo... but I'm not too crazy about that and don't really wanna pay $40 for it. Plus I prefer FPS games on PC not a console.

Oh by the way... for now, this will be played on a 52 inch widescreen HDTV... so any games that are particularly impressive in HD I would consider as well.

Halo is Great. I always hated FPS shooters on consoles until I played it now it is my favorite game of all time.

Halo is only $30.00 You should be able to get it for $20, I though I saw it for $20 somewhere....

Totaled is a fun game, basically demolition derby style action and it supports custom soundtracks.

are you looking for co-op split scren play?

halo is definitely #1. it sounds like you haven't given this game much chance, but this is the staple of any good xbox library.

ninja gaiden doesn't have any multiplayer.

hmm i can't think of any other split screen co-op games.

List of Adversarial split screen games( besides the ones that have already been mentioned like fusion frenzy, crimson skies..)

PGR2 $30
Mechassault $20
Soul Calibur 2 $20
Monopoly Party (just throwing out suggestions)

I'm sure there are others i'm not thinking of...I'll post back if I remember some more.

Ok this doesn't apply right now, but Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow is gonna have split screen co-op. That will definitely be a great pick up.

Halo is the best Multiplayer game for pretty much everyone of all skills, Ghost Recon and Shadow Ops are almost equally as good as Halo, but require higher skill and more strategery I think and therfore might not be as fun.

In terms of sports games, NFL Fever is definatly the best football game, especially since with the 2003/2004 version you can download the latest rosters. MVP Baseball 2004 is probably the best looking and best feeling baseball game I have ever played... Just my $.02

ghost recon was fun but you can't get 4 people to a screen. IIRC i think its only 1 player, thats how live was atleast. I'll stand by halo. I love hearing your friend in the other room yell as you get him with the stock of the pistol from behind.

Whatever game will have to be played on the same screen since my brother doesn't have an xbox. Either split screen or on the same screen will work. What about the Lord of the Rings games? Are there any co-op modes in those? Or do those suck?

I am pretty sure that LOTR : Return of the King can be multiplayer. maybe only 2 players, but I don't know for sure.

I need to play this. I own it but haven't played it yet as I'm currently working on Ninja Gaiden and then moving to Beyond Good & Evil. I'll do Halo after that I guess.

Possble stupid question...
Since the xbox has a hard drive and that's where games are saved, you don't need a memory card unless you want to take your saved game to another console, correct?

Correct. And trust me, you'll never run out of space for game saves on the 8GB HD, Unless ofcourse you get a mod chip :)

You're missing out. My cousins from out of town who are huge into playing Halo over XBC are in town this week and we've been playing Halo like every single free second that I have when I get out of work. It's awesome :) Single player once finished leaves something to be desired but for straight up multiplayer/lan parties/playing over the internet, nothing beats the rush of Halo.
