What are some flowers that are low maintenance?

I am wanting to plant some stuff in my yard that will come back every year and is relatively easy to maintain. I live in Arkansas if that matters

Not in the yard, but if you have some indoor greenhouse, cacti are amazing. I have 3 in a south facing window, and they grow like crazy if you water them daily. I told the person watering it daily to stop, but he don't listen, so I've stopped caring.

EDIT: I just noticed you asked for flowers not plants.. sorry.

anyway, try elephant ears if you have an area in the yard where it's pretty moist - they'll expand out of their planted area though, if not contained.

I bought some black magic elephant ears from michigan bulb.com they grew pretty fast & when I placed the pots in the sun, the ears turned dark purple/almost black - really cool looking..

however, I have since found them at a local nursery for a little cheaper & more mature.

Low maintenance as in low water usage or perennials that requires little pruning/triming/weeding?

Perennials tend to require less maintenance than annual. Succulents & rock garden perennials tend require less maintenance than the average pants, and the least maintenance IMHO are acidic varieties such as azalea/rhododendron/heather (winter varieties).

Winter heathers may grow to 12" in height that make great border or filler plants, hardy and have very long lasting flowers (some varieties flowers up to 3 months in a season, doesn't lose leaves, stay away from summer varieties due to high maintenance and un-interesting flowers)

Azalea can grow up to 2'-3' tall with incredible floral displace (however it lose leaves in the winter).

Rhododendron flowers are similar to azalea, but the flowers are much larger and can be as tall as 8'-10', and do not lose leaves in the winter (dwarf varieties are 1'-4' tall)

Dandelions rock. One place I rented had the whole back yard COVERED with dandelions. Most of the summer my yard alternated between white puffs, and yellow blooms. It was great :^)

For the OP... The cemetery is a good place to find low maintenance flowers ;^)

I just release the guinea pig out onto the dandelion patches and he takes care of them.
