Ok, my philips 15$ speakers have seem to finally meet their end, so I want something good for under 100 dollars, surround sound would be a + but it is not neccesary. I mainly play mp3's. I was looking at the z-640's for 80 bucks

I picked up some Altec Lansing ACS33 Powercube (2.1) speakers at Fry's a couple summers ago for around $30, and they're very nice for the price I paid. It has good bass for speakers that cheap, and the sound quality is more than passable.

Logitech Z-640's !!! I just grabed a pair from buy.com ($99 - retail) I paid ---> $43!!! Free Delivery to my door in 2 dayz! They are on sale for $60 and print out the $20 rebate... Viola! They really sound great and for $40 you can't go wrong. They also have a Super Bright blue LED on the center channel - Very cool looking.

Patiently waiting on my $20 MIR also. Bought mine from NewEgg. Great sound for the price of $45. Logitech even set me mail, and confirmation of the MIR, so I can track it. Says it should be mailed back to me sometime this week. 🙂

I've been very impressed with Harmon Kardon speakers that we got from Dell a while back. They were freebies they tossed in with our orders so our cost was nothing, but I doubt they're very expensive. Amazing sound from such small speakers.

My 2 cents,
techfuzz

Check your local compUSA/sams club on the Altec Lanscing ATP3, you can get em for $40! There the best 3 piece Ive ever used!

I got free harmon/kardons with a dell too, they are the 2nd shttyest speakers i've ever heard.

good deal for the money,
Boston Accoustic.
Digital BA 735
$30
it's 2.1, but if you want surround sound they have remotes (identical to the normal speakers) on stands.
sound good when up loud, 6 inch powered sub gets smooth bass too.

I picked up a set of Monsoon PlanarMedia 9 (2.1 speakers) for $80 at circuit city on Christmas Eve. I like them a lot, if you only want a pair of flat panel satellites and a fairly powerful subwoofer. The flat panel satellites seem to be very high quality metal speakers and sound very nice.
