NO, NO, NO, NO!!! too overplayed...u must be shot if u learn that song!

try learning simple songs by Avril Lavenge, or however u spell her name. or some Howie Day, Red hot Chili Peppers, Bush and most recommended....Dispatch

Honestly Led Zeppelin tunes are great to learn chords with. They use a lot of neat blues riffs and their solos are based mainly in some form of the pentatonic scale, so learning the solos are cool cause once you know the scale he uses you can improvise your own stuff over it.

A lot of the stuff on Green Day's American Idiot is fairly simple to pick up. My daughter is 11 and can play a good deal of it and she has only been playing about a year.

Not sure if it's your type of stuff or not but a lot of '70's hard rock is fairly simple (Kiss, AC/DC, etc)

wish you were here - pink floyd

it has a little bit of everything, but its all pretty easy.

*edit*

i meant the song, not the album.

Ok so I picked Hurt by Johnny Cash... nice and slow. We'll go from there.

Bad idea... Just because a song is slow doesn't mean it's easy. Nirvana is easy, and good if you want to learn strumming, pop chord changes. Anything you practice will instill itself on your style so pick something that suits your style... There are other good ideas in this thread as well. I've been playing for 10 years, and can play anything I want to without TAB notation. Not that it's hard to do...
