What are good games to play over a network with friends

Any thoughts on this me and some friends are interested in playing video games over our network. We usually play midtown madness 2 but it's getting kind of boring. Any other recommendations we love racecar games but not into games with guns and violence I was wondering if anybody had any ideas

Do you consider impersonal violence as violence? If not, try Total Annihilation.

If so..go to Gamespot and browse the 'racing' and 'sports' sections..I'm not a fan of sports games, and I only have a few racing ones.
