Okay . .now that the jokes been done .. :)

certs = certifications

MCSE is a cert
RHCE is a cert (sp?)
and so on
you can get Cisco certs and all kinds. Find out what these are, cause they're good to have.

Certs is short for certifications... You can get certified in all different types of technology related fields... Networking, PC Repair, Wireless Networking, Operating Systems. You study for these certifications, then take a test that costs money, most are around 100 bucks. If you pass the test, you get a little certification card which shows you have the certification, and it looks good on a resume if you have them in the field you are looking at. Check out Certmag.com for more information on certifications.

P.S. If they are offering to pay for all your certs, jump all over that, and take up the opportunity. Because they are great to have in the future. Also, most certs require you to retake the tests after a couple years to stay certified.

Look, certs -> not just 1 meaning...there arent only technical certs out there....

what i meant was "Certificates" not "Certifications"..someting company offers u along with you salary...simialr to stock options i think...but i just want to know what exactly that do and worth..and can u sell it...help anyone??

please, educate yourself, especially to beast, just a little bit more. When people say $400 each for a certs....that certs is more of a bond paper, not sun certified or microsoft certified cert......

and also, for beast, please notice there is a S after the word certs....certification, short for CERT....and certificates, short for certs.....

seriously, does that make you feel better for you to say some unrelated stuff?? Learn more, and stfu.

If you dont know what certs are, please stfu and dont give stupid comments.

EDIT:

My previous comments were for beast only, i dont mean to have it any other ppls way. I left a comment like that just b/c beast said, "LOL IF HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT CERTS ARE, HOW DOES HE KNOW WHAT MCSE ARE"....to me, knowing what MCSE is a very common thing, he tries to put me down by saying that..and thats why i left a comment like that. I apologize to any other ppl, like smp, ...etc..

At my first msg, i already said, the company has no STOCK, its a private company. I also said, CAN I SELL THEM.....i think it makes sense that technical certifications are not sellable....and it has nothing related to STOCK.......It is pretty clear that what I referred to......

Again, I apologize to any other ppl who misunderstood my meaning of CERTS.........

but obviously, accusing other ppl dont even know what MCSE are, thats a pretty harse comment to make on a computer board like this. If I dont know what MCSE are, why am I posting messages in this forum?? does it make sense, beast?

And fvck you for telling someone to stfu that is trying to help you. You are the type of person that I would pull the trigger for if you wanted to commit suicide. Screw you.

Certs, the kind I was talking about, are worth money .. because you have to pay for them.
You're totally the biggest as$hole I've encountered all day.

I assume they mean stock certificates then? It would be a fancy piece of paper that says 10 shares on it. Yes you could sell it if you have an account with a stock broker. It's just a matter of can you get your hands on the certificate while you're working there... or after you work there.
BTW on a computer board like this one certs = Computer Certifications. You should have said "Stock Certificates" if that's what you meant.
It's like me telling someone here to go rub a MF on their car. MF = Microfiber towel for me... probably means M*ther F*cker for everybody else here. ;)

Dude, of course he thought you didn't know what MCSE is, you asked what a cert was....there was no need to respond so harshly to him. It wasn't an insult at all, just a misunderstanding. You responded meanly, people called you an asshole. It was all just a big misunderstanding due to a poorly worded question. Now let's everyone kiss and make up, eh? :D

Sorry, but when you say things like:

what the hell are certs???? can you sell them?? The company is a private company, no stocks....what the hell are certs??

You don't exactly come across as intelligent.

If you want people to understand you the first time, don't use ambiguous abbreviations.

Combine ambiguous abbreviations with apparent stupidity and you're guaranteed to get results you didn't intend.

People tried to help you, you tore them a new asshole.

Way to go, moron.

hey bigjohn,

I didnt ask for what a CERT is, i ask what are CERTS.....with an S......cert is certification....certS are certificates....its a pretty common term out there in the industry....and I also mention the word STOCK, SELLABLE......STOCK, SELLABLE, CERTS -> looks like a financial thing to me.

If some one post and ask, what's CCNA, MCP, MCAD, MCSD.......i assume most ppl in here know what they are......and I believe that is the same thing for CERTS...CERTS = certificates......it is extremely common out in the industry...it just that I never had one, I dont know the use of it...simple as that.....If a person been working long enough, I believe he/she should know what CERTS are.....

How about this, if I ask you, what are PERKS.....would that be better?? CERTS are include in PERKS....If you know PERKS, you should know what I mean by CERTS....

anyway, thanks for your help.

lets end it here.

certs may stand for certificates, but when you post something like that on a tech board, certs stands for certifications as well. Yeah, cert stands for certification, but certs stands for certifications. If you wanted a financial-based answer, you should have put something more specific in you thread title, or even your posted question. A lot of people here respond to the thread title with only a cursory glance at the posted question, too. Not saying that's what beast did, though, since your question was quite vague, as well as your thread title.
