By definition, artifacts are undesirable elements or defects in a video display. So you're tiny squares are artifacts. And 118C is DAMN HOT! You can boil water on that sucker. Probably the reason for the tiny squares too.

120 degrees is like the threshold limit too before either something goes wrong ot the card underclocksthe 6800le is a slower clocked 6800gt isnt it?

i would suggest getting an arctic cooling vga silencer....coz that is hot man!

If there are sensors on the card, rivatuner can check them. 118 is more than likely the reason for artifacts. If you have a pci card installed in the slot next to the video card, consider moving it; it will trap all the heat from the card. Also, all you may need is one (maybe two) exhaust fans on the back of your case, as your case may lack airflow.

Maybe its cause i left my comp on standby overnight and when i started it back up this morning the vid card fan didnt spin or something? I turned it off this morn and i just got back from school and now my temps are at 53C lol i dunno what was wrong this morning

Standby does not seem to work on desktops.

I tried this with my game machine and none of the fans spun back up. I turned it off.

I was having the same problem with standby after installing my 9800 AIW, when trying to bring pc outta standby system would appear to boot, then no video and freeze. Have since deselected standby mode and no problems since.
