I use no antivirus, but once in a while I'll do random checks with NOD just to confirm that my cockyness is justified.

Man it is scary to see how many people put their computers at risk using Norton Antivirus. May I point you to my article that I have done testing antivirus products and the results are scary that Norton Antivirus is the worst antivirus product out there. If ya want to take a looksy look at Is any antivirus product good for your computer?

It isn't spam, its informative just like Anand's article on how to choose hardware, but this is how to protect your computer. No one needs to get viruses from cheap crap that norton sells.

Instead of being a prick, you should actually take a look at the website. It's not bad by any means. I like the variety of software he reviews, but the reviews themselves are a bit lacking in depth. (much like this mini review of his site )

Mango thanks for the compliment. I thought you were calling me a prick.... I was going to do a full fledge type review but I like getting down to the point. You really don't need which sites I used to pick up spyware and viruses of course the illegal ones are filled with it and nothing better to get infected with than using IE.

I have no problems with Norton 2005..... I also use Adaware, Spyblaster, MS Antispyware, Spybot and zone alarm. In the 6 years I have been running norton it's saved my bacon a lot (mainly from e-mailed viruses). I also run the free panda online virus/spyware scanner every once in a while. I think the key to keeping your computer bug free is to always get the updates.

Trend Micro PC-Cillin. Dont too much care for the firewall program it comes with but the anti-virus package is really good IMO. used to have norton 05

i can too, but i really do NOT want a PC which's sole task is to scan for and remove viruses.

A good antivir program should be rather invisible in the background doing its job and not as straight in the face like KAV. I use my PC mainly for everything else, gaming, surfing etc....KAV slows down my PC, KAV manupulates the filesystem etc..and then you slowsly really ask whether you really want that trade-off.

No question, KAV's detection rate is excellent..but as said i think i found a good compromise in NOD32.
