Unless you have no choice.. you should look at getting out of Windows/ Mac.

I personally prefer Linux Mint Debian Edition.

Debian/ Fedora/ Zorin OS/ Pop OS/ KDE Neon are all good.

Hell even Google has an open and free operating system called chromium OS.
If I ever leave Windows, it's certainly going to be nowhere near anything made by Google. I deGoogled my life a bit this year - no more Google Pay for payments on any online shopping, switched back to Firefox and made DuckDuckGo my default search engine on my desktop and phone.

I have a strange feeling, you're gonna like LMDE.

If you have an old laptop or desktop lying around.. install it on that and give it a whirl. You're gonna be surprised how much you like not having to depend on Microsoft/ Google/ Amazon so much.

How is Linux with games? I know the shitheads at EA that run Apex Legends dropped all Linux support after they said the ratio of hackers to users was the absolute worst on Linux, so they just banned all Linux users.

I don't game, but I hear it's pretty good. As always, it's a YMMV thing. If the game you want to play doesn't work, it doesn't matter how good the *other* games are. I'd research specific games you're interested in.

It's fine, thanks to Valve. You can also dual boot or whatever if you want but I don't think it's necessary anymore.

So uninstalled Bitdefender and just turned on the built in Windows anti-virus don't kill me apps. Now ASUS Armoury Crate runs fairly well. I just turn it on to make changes as I adapt to my new keyboard, but with Bitdefender it rarely launched correctly. Now it launches fine, I save the adjustments to my onboard memory profile, and things work dandy, then exit it out. Eventually I'll just uninstall it altogether.

Reverse first-world problem, thanks to the darling denizens of ATOT

Didn't see your question till now..

If you use Steam.. Steam actually has their own linux version called Steam OS which lets you play just about everything on Steam.

Otherwise you can use a normal popular linux and install Steam as an app and play in that which is generally more preferable by most.

You can youtube videos on Steam gaming in linux with proton.. it's not that complicated nowadays as just about everyone wants to either keep windows 7/10 or get on linux.

Nothing, but I'm not downloading pirated software, videos, or music anymore.

Same, 99% web browsing/email for me, I download maybe 4 .exe files per year from known reputable sources. I should be more concerned about cookies, etc. but don't have the time to research the best web browser for Windows 10 and MacOS.

Firefox with CookieAutodelete. Block 3rd party cookies, cause of course, then whitelist the cookies you want and purge the rest with the addon.

I celebrated too soon. The shitty Asus armory crate software just sucks. A lot of people have been complaining the last month since the last update it has trouble connecting

The Gigabyte analogue comes up for me at every startup. I know I can disable it but I find it more satisfying to click cancel every time. Kinda like telling a shop assistant, no thank you. I don't need help.
