why people don't like SUV is simply because they can't afford them and it makes them jeleous to see someone yonger to drive more expensive car. Most of the people who're bitching about SUV actually drive either Hondas, Geos or Suzuki. Please show me at least one owner of Mercedes or BMW who wil say that SUV are bad vehicles.

If an idiot behind the whell, he can flip any car over. Same as taking Ferrari offroad and see how fast it can go.

<< Tires falls apart... >>

Happens on every vehicle if tires don't have correct pressure or people use 'el-chipo' tires. Probably same people who buy eMachines

<< Takes a lot of parking space.... >>

Who cares??? (still less space than older piece of crap cars, which can take up to three parking lots)

Not really, the difference in stability IS a factor. Its simple physics.

Um, theres no way in hell a simple bumper clip that broke off would make a SUV totaled unless it was an old pos. I've seen more than my share of SUVs ram into puny cars and come away with a scratch on the bumper (on the SUV) and monsterous damage on the car.

And that car could have been wrecked the same way with a puny Geo Metro. It doesnt matter what hits it

Zuchinni, that is correct. That's why people don't race SUVs @100mph and see what kind of turns they can make. Each vehicle has its limitations.

I totally agree with Raging. I would love to see who will get a scratch in a head on collision of 325i and 4Runner :)

Andrey,

Thats true, drivers are a factor in anything, but having the threshold for rollover so much lower does not help in anyway. At the least people make mistakes you know.

Well it happens like this, I am exiting on a highway ramp and there is traffic. I slow down on my 2000 328ci and the suv (2000 Grd Cherokee) was probably driving at about 30 - 40 mph. Luckily the Guy don't have a grill guard or something. I was shocks what I got out of my car that only the clip on the right side fell off and a scratch mark on the bumper as for the Jeep the whole front is like gone. Headlights, grilled, hood, and the airbag pop. My airbag didn't pop for some reason. Damn BMW sure make some hard bumpers!

Here's my beef with SUV's - people don't realize they are sitting in 5000-7500 pounds of steel!

A 7000 pound suburban + 2800 pound VW Golf = 1 dead golf and driver - end of story.

The purchase price of an SUV is not a factor to me. Hell, I've been looking at 30k cars myself. My problem is with these morons behind the wheel that have no concept of how much chaos they are capable of wrecking.

Buying a bigger vehicle is not the proper way to promote saftey. Building smaller and safer cars, and teaching people to drive, instead of talking on a cell phone, eating supper, and applying makeup while behind the wheel is.
