Ok, I have just installed W98 in two computers on my 4 computers network. Don't ask me why because it will be a long explanation.

Anyhow, they can all ping each other, but... when I open "My Network", the W98 boxes only see itself and the other W98 box. While the W2k boxes only see themselves and the other W2k as well.

I thought it was my topo, I have a two computers going into a switch, and the other two going into a hub that is connected to a switch. But one of the W98 box triple boots to W2k and RedHat, and when I boot to W2k(hub connected) I can see the other two W2k systems(switch connected). So my topo seems to be workable.

I have them all set up to the same workgroup, xxxx.com.

What am I forgeting to tell you? That's probably the thing that is missing in this network.

Thanks,
WW

Well you have to have all of the computer logged into with the same username (ie. Administrator) because the 98 computers have to log into the 2K computers. To do that all you have to do on the 98 computer is click start>Log Off (username)>then when the prompt comes up that asks for a username, enter "Administrator" and click OK. Then when everything loads click on start and see if it says Log Off Administrator, if it does you should be able to access the 2K computers. And I believe the 2K computers will also be able to see the 98 computers also.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks Mota331, the problem wasn't with the logon. I couldn't even get to the logon prompt.

The problem was because of the protocols I was using. Not only wasn't it enabled in W2k(over tcp/ip) but it wasn't even installed in W98. Now everybody is talking NetBEUI and they're all happy.
