im looking for, pretty much, best quality on all the games for a cheap card. i was looking into the XFX GeForce 6200 256MB (LINK ).

how would this do for games like Quake 4, DOOM3, F.E.A.R., Ultimate Spiderman, King Kong, stuff like that -- the new stuff?

basically i wanna know if this is a good card to spend money on (im only looking to use it for half a year, most a year), and if not, which one is?

thanks a lot.

Ultimate spiderman and King Kong...........ROFL! wwoooww

check out that link for more details.

only messed up thing is...it says 4 pixel pipes...are those the damn pipelines? shouldnt 12 (OCed to 16 😀) be the bare minimum?

if this card is WORTH waiting for, then i will! $99 US is AMAZING!

NO there's a reason why it's only $99, you're much better off with the 6800nu

F.E.A.R. will give you the middle finger if you start it up with a 6200 256mb installed. Everything else will play like crap as well, except solitaire. You'll pull pretty good FPS on 3d pinball, though.

😀

yes, i would LOVE to do that, however i cant affor that right now, and despretly need an upgrade.

i dont even know if i can afford the 6800NU that was offered to me...

at the end of the week i will be able to, but i dont know if ill be able to get much else.

i dont even know if i can get the card this week because i have a CPU on hold...on of them end of the week, one of them end of the month..i have to choose...

well i still havnt made a final decision on to go with the 6800NU or 6800GS. the GT is a little out of my price range, but if i can find it dirt cheap, i will take it!

Dude, If you can get a 6800GS, get that. It would be great for you. Also you may be able to unlock it as some have said in other posts. So basically, for $200 you could end up with a GS at Ultra specs🙂

i would love that so much, however its not a guaruntee (or a HUGE concern anyhow). im just worried about (stock) having a good card that will last to play games for about another year. if i can get a 6800NU that can unlock to 16 pipes FOR SURE, ill be fine. if i can get a GS that can unlock to higher (20? or what would it be?) that would be 10x better (just posted WTB thread 6800GS/unlockable 6800NU).

i realized that in his sig -- however the GTs are AMAZING cards...but ultras are better!

Uh, you can't unlock up to 20 pipes on a 6800 series. The 7800 PCI-E series are the only cards with 20 pipes.

You've got good recommendations in this thread. For ~$100, I'd look for a 6600GT, for ~$135-$160 I'd look for an unlockable 6800, and for ~$200 I'd look for a 6800GS.

hmm...

ok thanks a lot people!

this would be, however (kyparrish), your recommendations in US funds, correct? CAD is different then USD 🙁🙁

a 6800NU unlockable to 16 would be amazing...

however i was wondering why u suggested a 6800GT at the cheapest lever...aren't they quite pricy, and amazing cards? i only found a few 6600GTs for a little under $100 around the forums...6800GTs are about $200 from what I can PERSONALLY find...

6600GT's go for around $100 US from what I've seen on the FS/FT forum, that's what I sold mine for 6 months ago. 6800GTs have come down a little in price to ~$200 or so on the forums, but i'd buy a new 6800GS for the same price.

me too, as they seem to have a lot better performance...

if anyone can find a 6800GS for $180 CAD, i will love them (come on now, dont be 2 years old about this), and be loyal to the forever!
