What actually cools better, Thermaltake Tiger1, or old IC7-G HS\Fan?

Zalman makes the NB47J now.
And...if you're going to lap a NB cooler, you really should at least be cooling it with water,

My IS7 has the tiger on the NB, not sure just how good it actually is as I bought this mobo with it already attached from Orion7144. One thing for sure is that's pretty quiet, but obviously not as quiet as the Zalman NB47, I think the main reason it was changed was due to the noisey fan that Abit put on it, they have since changed it to a better design.

Why would say that Cerb ?
The cost of a decent NB cooler compared to a Watercooling setup is no comparison and for what gain especially if you use the Zalman NB47J which is silent with decent airflow in your case.

Because it's a lot of work for something that can easily be cooled passivvely with an old socket 5 or 7 cooler (or the Zalman).

...and you'd have to really up the voltage for that, as it comes, to not be enough.

I must have missed something regarding the watercooling ? "And...if you're going to lap a NB cooler, you said you really should be cooling it with water " with which I took for a watercooling setup instead of a hs/f ?

Both cost plenty of time, effort and money (though lapping less so on the money), and for the northbridge, offer practically nothing aside from bragging rights.

The stock NB sink on my 8RDA+ was so badly cupped when I got it that it was useless! After lapping, it works rather well. (And yes, that was was a lot of work, but it was worth it! My board's been up to 220FSB with the stock sink.)

Well, maybe I should explain more.

The default HS\Fan on the Abit IC7 is pretty loud. The Tiger1 is virtually silent. Now if they cool the same, why would I use the louder one? That's why I ask :)

I lapped hte Tiger1 because it had one of the most rough surfaces I've seen on a heatsink. I only used 600 grit, but it was a HUGE improvement in smoothness when I was finished.

The ZM-NB47J requires holes around the NB, the Abit IS7 does not have this, so how to use it?
Thanks

Look at the pics; it should come /w two syringes. These are adhesive to use if the holes aren't there. One color on one side, one on the other (very thin, and don't get it on any mobo or NB chip contacts), and there you go.

1. not fanless
2. w/o mounting holes, why bother? Zalman has far more area, and should be easier to install.

I have an old tiger and that thing is silent. But I honestly can't hear my IC7 NB HSF either. I heard that Abit was replacing the older NBHSFs with newer ones so maybe I got a later model. Anyway, if they are, I'm sure they have some for sale or cross shipment to you.
