Hi,

does anybody know something about web accelerators?

I mean the way those things work and what exactly they do (coppying personal data like registrations and stuff?)

well and another thing, at what speed would you say accelerators are worth spending the resources...?

Thanx,,,

web accelerator software is basically garbage. what they do is while your reading stuff on one page, they are going to the other pages that link off of your current page and storing the information in a cache. So basically, unless the only sites that you visit are linked off of each other, its a waste of money and wont really accelerate anything.

ok...

That is what i wanted to hear...

I doesn't do anything really helpful and you never know whatelse the program does...

Thanx...

Only thing I use is FastNet which keeps a local host table that matched DNS names (www.anandtech.com) to IP addresses (101.010.101.010). That way, you never have to perform DNS when going to a site. Just a small hassle when a site changes IP (not a big deal tho).
