What about the subway/PATH station underneath the WTC???

I have heard nothing regarding Search&Rescue or the condition of the Subway/PATH station under the WTC. Did all the trains get out in time? Did the tunnels collapse? Could they use the tunnels (if they still exist) to access basement floors of the WTC (if they still exist)?

Why hasn't anyone commented on this???

on cnn.com look for the survivors pulled story. it says they know several people are in the basement alive. i would assume that the subway, if it were caught under it, might have survivors. they article said it could be as much as 3 weeks before debris is removed 🙁

Debris from above the tunnels? Because if the tunnels are unobstructed (maybe even service tunnels), couldn't they send some (extremely brave) people from farther down or up the line right to the station.

Basically, I'm asking if it is know if the collapse also affected the tunnels, or if they are unobstructed.

<< up to 220 floors of building are on top of it. It doesnt look promising. >>

But that same weight was there even before it collapsed (even if in a more structured form)! I'm not saying that I'm thinking of something the rescue teams might've forgotten, I'm just wondering why we haven't heard anything about it.

On Howar Stern this morning they interviewed a volunteer who was there earlier today and he said something along the lines of "you would think that a 110 story building would leave at least 5 stories or debris but I would be surprised if there is any over 2 stories. The ground underneath the buildings have collapsed and there is just a huge hole filled with debris."

I did hear about people calling relatives from basements or something so there are survivors, but unfortunately not many i'm sure.

I'd say the stairwell was full, surely with that many people crowded, some of them would survive. That has got to be hell on Earth inside the WTC right now for the survivors.
