Last time I went to the emergency room was probably 7-8 years ago. I was out surfing in the AM Saturday on the 4th of July weekend and accidentally got smacked in the mouth by my own surfboard. Split my lip wide open so I drove myself to the emergency room, my friend took my board with him so I didn't have to deal with it, and luckily they had a very good plastic surgeon working that day. He sewed up my lip and I barely have even a hint of a scar now.

I remember walking in there with my spring wetsuit on and a towel over my mouth. The admitting nurse asked me what was wrong and I just removed the towel to show her. She didn't ask me anymore questions and took me right in. I had to wait a while for the doctor because he was fixing some guy's nose who got in a fight but they gave me a bed to lie in and made sure I was as comfortable as possible.

Id like to give a heartfelt thank you to all those who work in that environment.

Had an emergency spleenectomy once, those docs/nurses were so calm when trying to determine why I had blacked out twice on the way to the hospital and only knowing it was abdominal pain. I have a great respect for hospital staff after that whole ordeal.

What do you think of that article? Is it a valid point or just something put together for the public to read? Reason I ask is that I haven't heard anything much after reading it and wonder if it's false at some basic point.
interesting - one step short of cryogenics. They did the hypothermia thing in The Abyss. :D

It's interesting but its very preliminary and a very limited study. Once more studies and research is done then I'll have a better opinion of it. However it IS a good start. Not to mention we already do that for our cardiac arrest patients, once we get them back we chill them down with ice packs and cooling blankets. It does help them recover...
