i know, this card is sold and advertised as being able to overclock....most of the other fireblade cards ive seen come with R480

Ati tool reported R480 and so too did lavalys home edition.... i wonder if the guy i bought this off, had tried to flash it.

also i noticed when i took the HSF off, it already has AS5 on it

well put some more AS5 on..

core just managed a 10% oc, and then the memory.... which is actually claimed on the sapphire site to be capable of 560+ mhz simply wont go that far. its 1.6ns stuff too.

pitiful

I have an R423 Connect3D and I got 540/550 out of it np, 2.0ns ram. Totally stable, no artifacts in ATITool, etc. Unlocked to 16 pipes as well. Has Arctic Silencer 4 Rev. 2 on it as well. For sale if anybody wants it!

you Do realize that "more" is NOT better. More AS5 will make it run hotter. . . use the THINNEST possible layer. ;)

and the later r430s o/c just as well as the 480s

Dude, r430 = bad OC. It's like set in stone. The r423 and r480 are good, those are from the x800xt/x850xt cards. You've got a x800xl core, and there's just no way it'll reach anywhere close to 500mhz, nevermind 600.

Atitool only reports what's in the bios, so maybe the previous owner tried to flash a r480 bios, but that wont improve anything.

munky's right. I love my 800xl, but I've never seen one that was a good OCer.

if i KNEW what you meant i would not have commented. ;)

:p

with AC5 the rule should be: "put less on, [not] moron" ;)
:D

ANYway, you might check to see IF you card's BIOS was flashed . . . and flash it back, if so.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. Many of the later r430 cores were not bad o/c'ers . . . and i am genuinely surprised that your vRAM can only manage +10%.

yeah, i wonder if he has flasshed it, maybe its tightened the timings on the ram hence why it wont go very high
