WHat a tragedy: seniors in Canada are treated worse than animals, left to die and rot away in nursing homes :*(

Quotes from Article:
"Oh my God!" Martina gasped.
A gaping hole of angry red flesh lay at the bottom of her mother's back.
Pus oozed from the opening, which was the size of a large cantaloupe. The inner flesh had been eaten down to her tailbone. It was black with gangrene"
The Tragedy

A really disturbing and saddening read. Almost brought tears to me. If you guys don't know what "gangrene" is, google it.
This is the hidden darkness of our society, what a tragedy. Our seniors, who sacrificed and worked hard to build what we have today are simply left to die in such a inhumane way :( If it is my turn, i'll probaly just kill myself with Carbon Monoxide. What is the point of bragging that we have the longest life expectancy when the final decade of your life will be in a slaughterhouse?
And i hope those Money laundering doctors who orders nursing home restraint to all GO TO HELL and die in a more miserable way.

eh.... and the same thing doesen't happen here?

Although, I agree that is pretty bad if the patients have bedsores.

wtf dude, thanks for the gross description and inflammatory flamebait. Why don't you just save yourself the drama of the nursing home and go guzzle some tailpipe right now?

Are you coming onto me in a way I can't understand?:D

Yes, all seniors in assisted-living homes are doomed to die a horrible gangrenous death.

I'm not sure about Canada, but in the U.S. there ARE regulations for such places. I personally know the CEO of a local nursing home, and he genuinely cares about his inhabitants and makes sure they're comfortable to the greatest extent he can.

There are bound to be mistakes made in any industry. Because the Ford Focus has 14 recalls, should we all denounce the automobile and go back to riding horses and bicycles? No, and you need to realize that many of these cases are extreme outliers and happen at the SAME nursing homes. I'm willing to bet these offenses aren't 2 serious cases of abuse at ALL Canadian nursing homes. I bet there are several bad apples with thousands of strikes against them in this case.

Yeah, my grandma's assisted living was like an apartment complex with extras for seniors. Then with dimensia she slowly had to go into the assisted-living. I would have to say she was taken care of very well until she passed away. Some places are bad though I bet.

My mother used to work in the field...she saw the same thing. Mgmt would tell her to keep patients in their rooms because they "make the hospital look bad". They cut out all extra activities, cut back on therapy, closed the lounge etc etc. She got fired for helping a family prove another nurse was signing off on work and not actually doing it. Mom would change a dressing, mark it in an inconspicuous place, and sign the book. On monday, she'd return, see that the weekend nurse signed off on both days. She'd check the patient, and discover that her dressing was still on the patient (which supposedly was changed twice since). They canned her because she made the facility look bad. After all those years of schooling and experience, she never went back into nursing.
