There's a bird in hawaii whose call basically sounds like a dying persons last terrified scream - except this bird screams not only as it breaths in, but also as it breathes out. And it doesn't stop for hours, sometimes.

I woke up to a similar sound at 6am this morning. A woman was screaming "Call 911, Call 911." And she wasn't stopping. I wake up, crawl out of bed, look out the window, and see a body on the ground - a woman. Her head submerged into the curb. Ughhh. My flat mate, an avid violent video game player, had woken to the sound of the impact. He said it reminded him of gibs from computer games. He went outside, to help out, but there were already other people helping her. He said he felt like he was going to throw up when he saw the pool of blood.

Eventually, the woman stops screaming, a firetruck comes, then paramedics, and eventually they haul her off. Meanwhile, I'm wide awake and damn tired. My flat mate can't sleep either - he might even be in a mild state of shock.

So eventually I get really desperate and try to sleep some more. Nothing. It's too light outside. So - I take an old black sweater, and wrap the sleeve around my eyes. Ahhh...darkness. Soon I am nearly asleep, but something strange happens. Suddenly, it sounds likeI am listening to headphones. I don't have any on, and I'm hearing music that has never been recorded before. It sounds like a combination of dave matthews and van morisson. It sounds absolutely real. I find that I can turn it on or off with just a thought...strange...so I go to sleep with music :)

The music's gone now that I've woken up, and oh, there's that woman, walking back with her husband...a brace around her neck...her head wrapped up...

Having difficulties grasping reality when waking up is not that unusual. Especially when your mind wants to reject something.

By the way: cocaine is one hell of a drug.

I've had times where I wake up, and honestly don't know if I'm dreaming or not. It's a real biznatch when you were just dreaming about going to work, wake up, and your not sure if you're really going to work this time, at work asleep, or if you're still at home dreaming. But you KNOW that it's going to be a long day when that happens.

so what happened to the lady? or guy? who the hell was on the ground? you are an idiot if you are so concerned with how much sleep you get when something traumatic is happening outside your window. how heartless...

I guess she fell, and smashed her head onto the curb...she didn't move until the paramedics came. Her head was firmly planted on concrete, however from what I gather I think it was her neck that was most severly injured...

theres a rather large bloodstain where she fell.

I guess I am lucky...I do not need drugs in order to experience existential joy...

BS! now come off it and share....
Well, it is true that our minds produce the chemicals...most drugs simply allow for those chemicals to be released at a faster rate...
