I'd call it intentional mic, and about F-en time.
And again, the double standard. Trump called the news media and especially CNN all kinds of insults on mic on camera to their face. Plus, Trump encourages his crowds to inflect bodily harm on the media.
So... Democrats are expected to behave while republicans want to hang their opponents on the gallows?
In this day and age of the Trump loonies, I'd say let Biden and especially let Dr Fauci call Fox reporters anything they like. I can think of a few choice words myself....

Trump riles up crowd to physically threaten reporters and this is your complaint? It was a dumb assed question.

Look, between Congress, this President and the previous one, news channels should first require their reporters serve in nursing homes. That should prepare them for what awaits them in DC. It is not unusual in either setting, and for the same reasons.
 
Double standards are the stock in trade for the Repubs when it comes time to compare Biden with Trump. Without the use of the double standard shtick a lot of Repubs are wielding like an axe in one hand and flail in the other, what's left is a stark and telling list comparing Trump's disastrous single term in office where so many of his confidants and stooges were convicted of crimes against the nation and where he was twice impeached and presently besieged with numerous lawsuits that is far reaching in range and seriousness and all of that against Biden's decades long service to the nation.

Let's face it folks, history will be a whole lot kinder to Biden than it will be to Trump. I mean, it's all there, out in the open for all to see once the lies, disinformation, denials and deflecting the GOP is hashing out by the shit ton is washed away.

Intellectual inconsistency is irrelevant to current GOP and it's followers. (and frankly has been for a long long time, it may be their most singularly defining characteristic)

I'll happily agree that a public-facing figure ideally shouldn't be insulting reporters, but that agreement is based on the idea that the reporters aren't acting like fuckwits. "Mr President, if you were a flower, what kind of flower would you be?".

Obama was a bit of an odd duck, with him being from a generation that never before held the office. Meant he comported himself a bit differently than older men would. Yet he was, by and large, successful at being Presidential. Of carrying the weight of the office. A shame that "we" now aim for a low bar named Trump.

Obama had to keep himself in check because he was black. This country could never handle anything other than the mildest of expressed irritation from somebody like him and he understood that.
