Not only a good piece for the violin, but one of my favorite if not alltime favorie classical piece:

Vocalise - by Rachmoniov.

Get the version played by Itzhak Perlman, perhaps the best violin player in the world.

Prokofiev violin concerto #2 - in my opinion the single greatest violin work of all time

anything composed by paginini

anything played by Itzhak Perlman

a lot of Vivaldi - especially in four seasons...one of my favorite inspirational pieces

It's not classical, but some good violin comes from Jerry Goodman. Used to play with Mahavishnu Orchestra a long time ago. He has a solo effort out entitled Ariel, song called "Tears of Joy". It's more progressive jazz than classical, but it sounds Wonderful! -kd5-
