Go hide in the bathroom stall
Strategy:
1) Keep your feet above the hole between door + ground so people dont know you're in there
2) Don't accidently fall in the toilet
3) Keep your head below the stall walls
4) Make sure you turn your cell phone off or on vibrate

you know, IT people get paid a lot of money to basically do nothing all day... (except when the fit hits the shan. )

Too bad you're a help desk dude who can't do anything about it.

I am also helpdesk, and I sympathize. Since a co-worker got promoted our team is low on headcount, and the calls just won't stop coming. We're frustrated because our hands are tied - in many cases we have to wait for someone else to do something, and often that person is on vacation :p we did have a temp filling the gap for a while, but he started not showing up so we cut him loose. And now we've noticed several laptops are missing...

help desk people aren't really "IT people" in the same way as admins and devs... that was my point. Let the IT people finally earn their paycheck.

I don't know what part of the IT industry you're refering to, but that certainly isn't the case at my job.
