6-3 decision

if it isn't medicine, it isn't medicine

I'd rather see doctors deciding this rather than government officials

Same with me, but people misunderstand if they're blaming the court on this one. The court interprets the laws - the laws are set in place by the legislative branch.

If you want legal pot for medecine, you have to elect senators and congressmen who support that idea. How many of you voted last time around?

Where in the Constitution does it say you can't smoke Mary Jane?

It's just another morality law that our nany state forces on us....plenty more here

This is just a ruling to try and gain some support for the failing war on drugs, If we can't stop the drug trade for the junkies and the gangsters that are getting rich, lets atleast screw the people that really need the herb

It's the most conservative judges who tried to preserve the rights of the states to allow sick people to smoke pot . how ironic.

That's because most conservatives favor states rights and dislike a large central goverment. Although that could just be my expirience.

:(

I was hoping this would pass so that I could more easily score marijuana. I assume it would be easier to get when it could be used for legal medical reasons.

Note that I have no sickness; I just enjoy marijuana :)

Clarence Thomas' dissent
"If Congress can regulate this under the Commerce Clause, then it can regulate virtually anything--and the Federal Government is no longer one of limited and enumerated powers."
