I'm thinking about getting a Glock 17 because 9mm ammo is cheaper than .40, and my girlfriend will probably be able to handle the recoil better than the small .40 I have now.
I have a 239 in 9mm and love it. My favorite auto-loader. I wouldn't call it a subcompact, it's not much smaller than my Glock 32. It's just very gentle, and pleasant to shoot. The decocking lever is a bit flimsy. Dunno why, but just like it a lot.
Shooting one in .357 would be a bit rough. Hard enough in a compact Glock 32 which weighs more.
Got mine brand new with 2 mags for $450
