What .40 S&W Semiauto do I want?

I have a 239 in 9mm and love it. My favorite auto-loader. I wouldn't call it a subcompact, it's not much smaller than my Glock 32. It's just very gentle, and pleasant to shoot. The decocking lever is a bit flimsy. Dunno why, but just like it a lot.

Shooting one in .357 would be a bit rough. Hard enough in a compact Glock 32 which weighs more.

Got mine brand new with 2 mags for $450

A buddy of mine has a SIG P239. Great pistol although a bit small and the 7 round magazine is a bit of a bummer. Huge fan of the SIGs.

I honestly have no idea. It can't be weight-related, because the M9 is a pig (it weighs, for example, more than half a pound more than a Glock 17 with both fully loaded, although the Glock holds 2 more rounds). It seems to me the exposed barrel is a really dumb idea, considering it was foreseeable when they conducted the XM9 testing that it would largely be used in the sandy environs of Southwest Asia.

I'd have to believe that Glock would have won if they'd been included in the XM9 trials, but they were ineligible because their guns have no external safety and because Glock would not agree to license the design for production outside its own factory.

No, not unless you have a Class III license (IIRC). You can't legally buy or sell full auto weapons of any kind in many states though and they are extremely cost prohibitive as are the licensing fees in the states you can.

No thats not correct. You would need to pay a one time $200 tax to the ATFE and wait a few months for your paperwork to be processed. That is of course if your state allows it.

BTW... get the Sig. I'd go full size for your first one.

My Baretta .40 is a well made, well balanced piece of equipment. Bit expensive, but worth it.
