With the system in my signature I get 97XX in 3D Mark 06.

I'm being held back by my CPU, at stock I'd expect you to get around ~10,500-11,000... overclocking CPU to 3GHz+ and the 8800GT a bit, I think you should expect up to 13K.

3dmark06 is very CPU dependent, esp with multi-cores. I've seen others get 14000 with the Q6600 @ 3.6ghz and an OC'd 8800gt. At stock speeds I guess as the previous poster said, 10,500 - 11,000.

What exactly can you tell from using 3dmark?

I ran it and it seems pretty low to me, scored at just over 10,000

E8400 @3.6GHz
Gigabyte ep35 ds3r
4gb ddr2 800
msi nx8800gt 512MB OC
WD500gb sata hdd

Seem about accurate?

Doesn't the Futuremark website provide you with exactly this kind of ("what 3dmark score should I get") info?

The easiest way to find out what you should expect is to go run it :) Then you'll know for sure. lol

I am not sure that it is an entirely useful tool. I have discovered that my score goes up when I o/c my cpu, though my frame rates in the test stay exactly the same. So real world, the difference is nothing, but the score is higher. So be cautious in allowing your ego to get involved in your scores on any benchmark, and just enjoy whether or not your computer will do what you want it to do in a way that makes you happy. :)
