What’s the best gaming memory for the Asus P6X58D Premium MB?

Money really is not an issue. I considered going with 24 GB but heard this amount could cause an unstable system. So I’m considering 12 GB. My knowledge of memory is minimal. I’ve read that the lower the timing, the faster the memory; but I don’t understand the numbers such as 1066, 1333, and 1600 on the Asus QVL list. I’ve noticed that not all memory is compatible if all 6 memory slots are filled.

Thank you,
Jim

In real world (especially gaming) you are better off spending money elsewhere in the system.

Find the best triple channel deal out there and go for that. 24GB is not needed for gaming (unless you will be doing something else). Aim for 1.5V or below.

Spend more on the GPU rather than RAM.

Here is my vote. I think 12gb is plenty, and with that coupon (till 1/5) $160 is a steal! Or save $20 on the slower version.

EDIT: use code EMCKJKF23 to make the slower stuff $125!

Yep, the difference between the "fastest" and "slowest" memory that motherboard can take will be imperceptible to your eyes. If you've got cash to blow and want performance a large SSD and a nice graphics setup is where it's at. Triple monitors are also nice for gaming.

I should have included my current spec’s which are below.

I am trying to improve the performance of MS Flight Sim X. Perhaps my current RAM is sufficient but Flight Sim began locking up 10 minutes into flight and I suspect failing RAM. I reinstalled the OS but FS still stops responding. I downloaded a mem tester from Microsoft and no errors found.

JimIII; that really is a good deal and a 75% favorable rating is encouraging. I was hoping to find something faster than 9-9-9-24, but perhaps this is not really an issue.

I bought a new Logitech keyboard, diNovo Edge Blue Tooth, but I don’t think this causes the problem I’m having.

you need to run stress tests on your memory and GPU to start off with
