red v white depends on what I'm cooking.

what specific type/brand within the general families depends on what happens to be in my kitchen.

I use my regular wine to cook with.

I can definitely taste the difference if I use some cheap foul tasting wine or whether I use a wine I prefer to drink in a glass.

It's such a blatant difference I have to wonder at the people who suggest using the cheapest wine to cook with.

Is two buck chuck foul tasting to you?

2 BucK Chuck

Charles Shaw wines found at Trader Joes. It's decent enough wine to drink as it compares well to many bottles in the $6 - $10 range.

You must be some master food taster because I highly doubt you'll tell the difference. (and of course when I said put in cheap wine, I didn't mean put in rancid stuff)

I'm not sure with wine, I've never cooked with it. But when I cook with beer I can notice the vastly different tastes from using cheap beer and craft beer.

What recipes? I never cooked with beer before but most of the recipes that I've been given had pictures of people pouring in Bud for some noodle soups and chili.

I've marinated in beer concoctions before, using some of my favorite beers. The meat carries the flavor of the beer for sure. Also, when making beer brats, changing beers drastically affects the flavor, to the point where my ex was able to pick up when I used cheap beer or craft beer. Lastly, I've smoked ribs twice now with cheap beer and it essentially had the effect of water.
