*Wets pants* New Rainbow6 game announced, Unreal Warfare engine based!

w00t? One of my favorite game series. They scrapped their own engine and Red-Storm is going with the Unreal Warfare engine. Best of all, it should be released later this year (Christmas probably). Rainbow Six: Raven Shield. This better be 1337. Can't wait to play this guy. Killer engine+killer series=teh 0wnzor.

No real screen shots yet, except for some sorta in the flash animations you can find at: Homepage

Sounds cool...one of my main beefs with the R6 games are the fugly graphics.

Why not just use the Ghost Recon engine tho? It's pretty nice looking...certainly nicer than the rest of the RS Clancy games.

Very nice... I am looking forward to it.

Especially since it should fix my main problems with the game... graphics

By "clipping problems", you mean gun barrels sticking through walls and such? Seems most FPS games have the same problems to the same degree.

I haven't noticed them in UT, the only other FPS I play.

Dead guys sticking through walls, or entirely on the other side from where you shot them?

Not arguing with you....I just seem to recall this being the case in a lot of games (CounterStrike comes to mind off the top of my head). I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm playing some of them.

Ghost Recon was outdoorsy, and was outclassed by the Operation Flashpoint engine IMO. Did a much better job of conveying the outdoors. GR looked better, but couldn't walk everywhere, etc. The CQB transition was much better in GR though. The engine was good, but not perfect for CQB like the R6 series. Hopefully the UW engine will provide for a sweet experience indoor and out (as evidenced in the builds so far).

I've always thought the R6 engine graphics were acceptable, just not the best around 🙁 Hopefully Raven Shield will change that 🙂

AND HOW ABOUT LETTING US SEE OUR WEAPONS INSTEAD OF THE RED THINGY!!!

Just a thought 🙂

That's it so far 🙁

You can read over at Voodoo Extreme (ve3d.com) today and yesterday for a couple of snips. All they know is that it's in the R6 series, and is Unreal Warfare based. This is all that I've seen reported

<< Ubi Soft has launched the official site for the third series in the game, codenamed Rainbow Six: Raven Shield (thanks Ghost Recon Retreat). Not much on the site about this squad-based tactical action game, but there are three teaser presentations on the site worth taking a look at. >>

that was today. wednesday they had a bit before the game was announced:

<< Ghost Recon Retreat reports that according to the official Xbox magazine, Red Storm Entertainment will be using the Unreal 2 engine to power the next Rainbox Six game (which will of course come out on the Xbox, and perhap the PC). You can x2 check that by flipping to page 47 of the latest OXM. >>

Cool, go here
GR Retreat.

Several news things about it, with a scan of the mag shot.

There probably won't be much more information released until the E3 Expo in May.

I liked it in Ghost Recon how you could often see through walls with the night vision goggles.

SWAT: Urban Justice looks pretty good too. It is an upgraded SWAT3 that moves faster and forgot about the LAPD liscense so they could do a bit more with it this time. (ie hitting people with the butt of your gun, etc)

Dang, I hope they make a GR sequel with the Unreal2 engine as well... mebbe that'll open up modding a bit more than Red Storm has... their modding scheme is messed up...

RSE have announced new modding tools for GR... of course like the patch, the delivery will
probably come several months after the announcement.

Infiltration also plans on switching to the Unreal II engine. I like INF because they forgo the crosshairs for the weapon's actual iron sights (or scope/aimpoint device in other cases)

INF is currently a fun free mod for the UT engine the current version is 2.86 with 2.87 expected to be released soon.
