Westinghouse 37 1080p

I got a westinhouse 37 back when they first came out the V1

I noticed it did not have a hdmi port or support 1080p over Component. That was fine with me it's still a great screen.

Recently I got another one but it's a V3, it has HDMI port.

From this page it says component 1080p does not work LINK Look under specs tab.

But I have hooked my 360 up to it with component and it's doing 1080P component fine. Anyone else able to confirm this? Thanks

I'm no HDTV guru but I've never heard of componenet being able to carry a 1080p signal.

component is more than capable of carrying a 1920x1080 signal. in fact, it supports higher. plug your computer into the TV and you'll see. the xbox360 supports 1080p over component.

what that probably means is, it doesn't support 1080p media players like blu ray or hd dvd. since those both need hdmi and hdcp so the movie companies can police their content.

xbox does 1080p??? I thought it only did 1080i

xbox360 will do 1080p output for hd-dvd content over the vga cable only. as far as i know, it will not output 1080p for games over any connection. in any case, the 360 renders all games internally at 720p and scales to the necessary output resolution from there.

yes the 360 WILL do 1080p for 360 games. splinter cell i believe was the first game to support 1080p.

I thought there was a patch that allowed 360 to play games at 1080p if the game supported it. Right now I think that new Sonic game is the only 1080p game for 360.

interesting about the 1080p patch... i was not aware of it. it will be interesting to see if game designers will reduce detail to allow 1080p with decent framerates, or just keep the eye candy bumped up and run at 720p.

All games can be scaled to 1080p by the 360, the pre-release version if Splinter Cell simply came with the update that added the dashboard option.

unfortunately, no ps3 games even upscale to 1080p. even resistance: fall of man downscales my tv setting to 720p.

My question is... is it rendering internally at 1080p or is it still rendering at its native 720p and just scaling the output to 1080p?

depends on the game. earlier games obviously won't be doing higher than 720p.
