Westinghouse 37" 1080P LCD- $549.99 or $539.99

yeah ive been teetering on this deal for a while. I like everything about the TV minus the Tuner.

Ive heard buy.com's customer support is terrible and Ive heard westinghouse' customer support is terrible - Those are the only things that held me back (and that BF is coming up soon)

Great deal though , its dropped in price like 4 times in the last 2 months... I can't see it getting much hotter price wise

That looks like a pretty nice setup.

I have this LCD and have only used it with my Xbox 360 so far, because I don't have a desk that I feel comfortable putting it on.

Kaido, it looks like you're sitting relatively close to the monitor (2 feet or so?), do you ever feel like you would like to have it further away from you? When I'm playing 360, I find that 4-5 feet is a comfortable distance for me. Thoughts?

Hah that's not mine, just one from Hardforum. Here's some more from other users:

Actually thinking about getting one for my mom...she's currently running my old 20" widescreen, but that's kind of high-res for low-size for older people. A 37" @ 1920x1200 would probably be better on the eyes, and at this price it'd make a nice early Christmas present. Have you hooked yours up to a computer before?

I haven't gotten around to it yet because I've been enjoying the 360 with it so much, as well as not having a suitable desk for it at the moment. I should go ahead and hook it up just to see how looks, so I can make a better judgment on desk size.

Do you have any specific questions about the subject? If so, let me know and I'll take note when I do it. I'll probably do it later tonight or tomorrow.

EDIT: After reviewing the other pictures that you posted, it appears as though I wouldn't need a desk as big as I originally thought. Hrm.

Does anyone actually use this as a HD tv? I was thinking about getting it and hooking it up to an Oppo DV-980H....but it seems like everyone just uses it as a pc monitor...

I got this when Costco had it on sale for $800 (plus $100 shipping, which was still less than the $1000 regular price), and it was a bargain even then. I love it, though part of me wishes I'd chosen something a bit more reasonable- a 24" display, maybe, just something that didn't scream "I AM A GIANT NERD" to the rest of the world. But I still love mine.

got this a few weeks ago for $530 after coupon, have it plugged in as hdtv, also use for my xbox 360 & blu-ray player. Can't be happier with it.

I seem to be one of the few that uses this strictly as a TV. I have this monitor hooked up to a TiVo HD and a Sony BluRay BD350. It's exactly what I expected it to be, yes there are better screens out there with all of the tuners you need, but as I have a TiVo HD I have all of those anyway. I couldn't be happier with my setup and there and I haven't seen anything go cheaper than when I got it except the TV which is about $100 less a year later.

Kaido, I hooked a spare computer up to the Westy; I'm posting from it now. In 1920x1080, text and images are crisp. At the moment I'm sitting roughly 3-4 feet away using a wireless keyboard. I wouldn't want to be any closer than that when using it.

After this brief preview, I think I need to get a proper desk and hook this up to my main rig asap. I'm going to try a couple games and see how they look, but my expectations are low, as the video card in this rig is nothing special.

Ive been looking at this for a long time. Any of you had any problems with it?

Picture quality I assume is fair?

Here's my contribution picture.

I've never had a single problem with it.

My only complaint is the color. Blacks are more like gray and the colors in general seem flat compared to a Samsung or Sony. Other than that, I love it!

Edit: I forgot to add that mine is the original (no SE).

turn down the backlight. I set mine to 30.

god this looks nice....I could imagine having my guitar software running through this...my mind is racing now lol

This TV (Monitor if you must since it doesn't have a tuner) is an incredible value for the money. It works great via DVI or HDMI from a PC, and I also run my 360 to it via component. For $550 it's awesome, being a owner (of the SE model) for nearly 2 years I would highly recommend it. The colors and black levels aren't the best, but hey, it's not an Aquos or Bravia, it's a $550 37" 1080P.
