There's a $100 Mail in Rebate involved.
IMO at $799 its still a great price, but with the extra $100 it really is a hot deal

Going on newegg and looking at similar LCD TVs you soon realize that Samsung cost 2x more. No really, it does cost 1500 for a samsung of the same size.

Plus shipping.

damn, also has free shipping and no tax!? so 800 OTD and then a 100MIR... this sounds like a great deal, searching prices else where the cheapest after shipping is 839 w/ no MIR, as long as this is a decent quality tv i may have to jump in... FYI, MIR requires purchase by 8/31/06

LTV-32w3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824234001

might also wanna look at the above model... it's got a built in ATSC tuner (so you can watch HDTV OTA (no cable card slot, so only advantageous for over the air viewing), where as the the tv currently being discussed in this thread only has an NTSC tuner. can find it as cheap as 800 and change online, so a 100 bucks more... thoughts?

That model is $849 this week at Best Buy with 18 month financing if you use your Best Buy card. I have one sitting in a box beside me.

The 32w1 has a Farouda deinterlacer but no ATSC tuner. The 32w3 has the inverse.

A couple of posters on avsforum say that the 32w1 has a superior picture to the 32w3, even using component or DVI inputs on both.

What I'd like to know is -- how could close you to sit to this if using it as a computer gaming monitor? 3 feet? 5 feet? I would like the immersive feel from having it fill so much of the peripheral vision, but I don't want it to look too pixelated.

Sounds like prices are starting to drastically decrease on LCD TV's.

By apparently true, do you mean it accepts a 1080p signal? I know that's a sticking point for a lot of the supposed 1080p HDTVs.

That would be a heck of a price for a monitor that accepts a 1080p signal natively.

ckdragon, reading the avsforum thread I linked to, the Emprex does not accept 1080p inputs, just for over-the-air. Pretty worthless to me.

Still might be a good price to a nondiscriminating user who wants that screen size.

Deal is at least temporarily dead. Price is up to $899 before rebate. The rebate is good through the end of August, so the price might come back down.

There is a Soyo 32" at buy.com that is $749 AR, free shipping, and a Viewsonic at $799, no rebate, free shipping. Coupons can bring those prices down a bit ($15 off).

For those who think Westinghouse is "no name" junk, you ought to get out more. I've had this TV since black friday 2005, and it's nothing short of amazing. It's been driven by my HTPC running MCE2005, OTA-HD and FFDshow. I can't say enough about the picture quality. I have just upgraded my receiver/speakers and my living room is now a music heaven. There is one thing that bothers me though. That's the IR reception. I have to point precisely towards the IR receiver to be able to turn it on/off.

This TV is the perfect stop gap for my next 1080p set. Untill the market is flooded with 42' and bigger 1080p sets and price drops, I will be very happy to use my Westinghouse until then.
