I think a lot of these 22 inch widescreen panels use the same 6 bit dithered Chei Mei TN panel (there used to be an Official 6 bit Chei Mei TN panel thread at Anandtech*, but I can't find it now).

I would guess that the lower priced ones might just have lower build quality and quality control (e.g. higher likelihood of dead pixels) than more premium brands.

I think this Sceptre uses the same panel, as does the Chei Mei in the OP above: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1111713

* Anandtech Official 6 bit Chei Mei TN panel thread used to be here:

PC Mag liked the w2 version, which I suspect is the designation for the previous years 22"ws.

here

The Westinghouse LCM-22w2 is a solid 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor with a nice assortment of A/V ports and a moderately quick pixel response rate. Overall, the panel performed quite well, although it had trouble with light shades of gray.

The Westinghouse LCM-22w2 ($500 street) is a great deal for those looking to upgrade to a 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor. Multimedia buffs, gamers, and business users alike will appreciate its performance and connectivity features. But its tilt-only stand may disappoint those who want more flexibility in their monitor, and its grayscale performance is subpar.

Just picked mine up. Judging from the couple I saw heading out and the amount left, looks like my store had about 30 of the 22s and 20 of the 19s.

Also not sure which store started it (have a CC next to this BB), but the BB is not charging tax on anything (my state has a rather limited list of tax free items for this weekend but authorizes any retailer to absorb any other sales tax amounts). So with my 5$ RZ coupon and no tax mine was 170$ out the door.

Picked up 2 this morning in tampa.

If they are anything close to my BF w2, I'll be very happy and have near triplet 22"s for my office setup (right now sporting a hodgepodge 22", 19" & 17")

My BB still had a ton. (50 maybe? Most of a pallet) display looked pretty crappy with ghosting on the display model.

Checked it out in-store today. Had them hook it up to one of their display PCs. I was considering buying two, instead of grabbing a 24'' panel. The picture quality was noticeably worse than other high-end panels I've seen. If you need a cheap monitor, this is a good buy. But if you're used to nicer panels, I'd spend the extra dough for something nicer.

Yeah, this is a terrible monitor. Out of the box in picture mode it's kinda washed out and there is a hint of minor backlight bleed in standby with the windows logo popping around on a black screen. It is sooo totally not as good as my Dell 24"ws.

Of course it also cost 1/4 as much as my Dell, is almost the same size, and works great on my secondary computer which I use just for gaming and watching movies. This is only a bad deal if you think you are getting a high quality 8bit panel for this price.

Also noticed no ghosting while playing BF2142 last night :)

Hmm, tempted to get the 19'' to tide me over till I find a decent 20-22'' for gaming. My dell is clearly having issues with gaming these days and the dsub connector has been producing a fuzzy/blurry picture for a year now. Any reviews/opinions on the 19''?

I'll pass because BB are a bunch of douche bags. Plus they will probably pull up their "online site" in store and try to tell me the deal "expired".

I just ordered one for pickup. I also just bought an Acer TFT one at Staples this past weekend. It's extremely bright and sharp, but w/an 8ms response time, shows ghosting in UT2K4. I'll compare this one for both image quality & ghosting to determine which one to keep.

Great monitor for the price, no dead pixels and only a bit of backlight bleeding. I went from a 17" LCD to this monster-sized 22" and I'm loving it!

I ended up buying 3 of the 19" ones for the office and a 22" for my personal use. The 19" ones were fine. Not the best but for the price I wasn't expecting the best. I took the 22" back last night and upgraded to a Samsung. The guy told me that of the 20 or so monitors they sold I was the only person to bring theirs back. Maybe so but IMO it wasn't worth keeping, even at this price. Maybe I got a bad one.

My 22" just arrived. For an office monitor, this is perfect. I'm surprised at how big it is, really, since I have two 2005FPWs at home.
