For anybody who picked up the 19" widescreen version, can you reply if there was a clear plastic (mylar) protective sheet over the LCD panel? I just opened the one I picked up yesterday for my son. The panel had the usual foam packaging to cushion from shock and was wrapped inside a foam-type of bag but that's it.

When I opened the regular 19" panel I got for my wife, it had that packaging AND a clear plastic sheet over the panel itself for protection.

Just curious what the rest of you found.

TIA

I did not have any clear protective sheet over the LCD on mine. It was clearly an unopened package though, and I have zero dead/stuck pixels. I wouldn't worry about the sheet not being there.

I'm not concerned about the clear sheet....but the silver plastic bezel around the panel was not snapped-in on both left and right sides. The setup buttons were difficult to activate and there was a small rattling inside (like a broken piece of plastic). It got me wondering if the panel was a return or not -- hence the question about the clear plastic.

Not a problem, though. I exchanged the unit today and the new panel is perfect. And there was no clear plastic sheet on this one either😉

damn you guys, I've been wanting to get a LCD for a while now (good ole 19" KDS CRT currently) but I also need to save money. You can always depend on AT Hot Deals to make you bankrupt =P

Anyways before I decide to purchase one, how good is this monitor? I would do some research, but currently I'm at work and I don't want to seem like I'm slacking or anything (we know that's false since I'm posting here lol).

I do play games, fps and mmorpgs, but speed is not the only thing I'm concerened about, but color quality also.

Thanks in advance!

Very nice monitor for this price. Looks sharp in sliver and black, it feels decently well built, although the base could be better (sturdier).

Pros: No ghosting in games, No backlight bleed/deal pixels, Text is sharp

Cons : It is a 6 bit panel so viewing angles and colors aren't fantastic .

If you can find one pick it up and give it a test drive. If it doesn't meet your needs you can always return it to BB (I don't think a restocking fee applies to monitors.)

If you happen to find one of these monitors in the store, you might ask about BB's back-to-school coupons. I picked up one of these monitors this morning, and although the coupon wouldn't scan correctly, the cashier still applied the 15% coupon to the price ($147.21 OTD). YMMV, depending on the store and which employee(s) you deal with, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hanns-G 191 is available at Office Depot (I think it was on sale for around $179 a couple weeks ago).

I saw one in store and it has very vivid colors and a very sharp picture.

Seems like very nice LCD (around $180 at Newegg too)
