Western Digital WDH1CS10000N & Win XP X64

I am looking to buy the Western Digital 1TB (WDH1CS10000N) but I am running Windows XP X64 and I was wondering if anyone knows if this drive will work with Windows XP X64 when using the any of the three ports is has (USB/Firewire400/eSATA).

WD's web site says it will work with XP but not XP X64 and I read that it will not work with Vista X64 even though their site says it works with Vista. I guess it just works with Vista X86 as far as Vista goes. I just hope it's not the same with XP X64 and XP X86.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Why wouldn't it work? USB is a Plug-and-play spec (no drivers) and it's just a hard drive. Maybe they mean the software that came with the drive.

I was thinking the same thing. I was going to use the eSATA on the drive. But when I read that someone said it didn't work with Vista X64 and they called WD on it and WD said the drive came out before Vista X64 and that is why it won't work with Vista X64.

I have the WD 500GB USB and it works fine with XP X64. I'm new to eSATA and would hate to buy a drive that didn't work with XP X64.

Thanks for the reply.

Then I don't see why it would be a problem with XP X64 or any other OS. I think Im going to buy this drive.

Thanks for your help!
