How is EDs good old RMA service? How long will it take for them to send me a replacment drive? Will it be a new drive or a refurbished one ? Anyone bad experiances ?

Quick and painless. On the West Coast it's usually around a 3 day turn around.

Probably because the models they were pumping out two years back gave them so much RMA practice.

WD rma service is great, like EricFate says Quick and painless.

The last time I send a drive in it took less than a week to get a replacement.

WD was always very good for me. I'd call, get a cross ship RMA, have a new drive the next day (or the day after), replace it and send mine back in the box they sent theirs in. Never more then 3 days of downtime.

while turn around may be good....

policy sucks... get ready for a refurbished replacement, and this is the good part the refurbed drive i believe has a good ole 90 warranty... not sure about that last part but you will be getting a refurbed drive.
