Western Digital Raptor X 150GB for $179.99 AR

I dunno, not bad I guess. Microncenter still has it cheaper and no rebate. One thing you should know is, the windowed version is louder than the non-windowed.

It is strange how the window version acording to newegg has a 5 year warranty and yet the normal version has only a 3 year warranty.
I was under the impression that all raptors had a 5 year warranty on them, I know the original 36/74 gig drives did.

anyone know the dif in noise between the "regular" 150GB and the 74 and 36??
I have heard they are real noisy whiners, but I'm ready to buy 2 for RAID, so I'm a little nervous

They are noiser but, I dont think they are just insanely louder.....I wouldnt let it bother you. If you have a real quiet computer, you might notice a difference I guess, but barely. My case fans are louder than the raptor for me.

Here is an idea on the noise level difference compared to a 74gb. You notice the windowed version(raptor X) is by far the loudest at idle and seek. LINK

I had (past tense) a 74GB Raptor and currently have a 150GB Raptor X - I haven't noticed much of a difference in terms of sound (the 74GB was maybe just a little quieter), but that's just me.

Not according to WD. Newegg is wrong.

thnx for input, I use the Corsair 620W's (Seasonic), 120MM fan on CPU and currently use seagate 320GB 7200.10's. As such, my systems are extremely quiet, not by design - just happens that way.
