Same problem described here...

[This is the model, http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=586 My Book World Edition 1TB, although it seems to affect similar models too.]
Since the power of google isn't helping much and WD support seems iffy, I thought I'd ask my favorite forum for help.
Anyone use or know someone that uses the WD My book world edition net drive?
I'm working with this NAS and just seems like some of the files are read-only. If you try to open a file that is on the NAS like a spreadsheet, it will open as a read-only file with some random numbers and letters (ex:HR46Y3).
I configured the NAS so that anyone could read/write to it. Seems like the NAS is setting the files to read-only status, not sure why.
Could it be everyone is using the same username and password for the NAS? It was working fine before, really not sure what happened.
Also, there's this sharing violation problem, which is another matter.
I think I know the problem, culprit could be windows indexing.
All pc's are Vista Home Premuiem Machines with MS office 2003 SP3.
