western digital 80 gig 7200rpm drive for $207

i searched for the coupon at techbargains dot com
theres nothing there at all 🙁

why cant coupon codes be posted here? whats a Hot Deal without them hot coupons huh?

email me if you can for the code. alpha_dia at hotmail dot com thanx

Go to TB.com then click on the link called coupons and scroll down to Computer geeks, it's there.

Just a heads up, the 10% Mastercard coupon can not be combined with any specials that Compgeeks is running. Therefore, since the hard drive is a "Geek Special" I don't think the 10% coupon will work even though you applied since Compgeeks has to manually give you the 10% and on specials I know they do not. (Tried the 10% off on a special before, no go.) Good luck.

If anyone get's the 10% off, let us know, thanks! 😀

So its an OEM drive for $239 pretty much,

Since you cant combine the mastercard deal with a "GEEK Special" item.

the M/C code works instantly now...if you don't see your discount on your final order page, it's not applied.

it used to be calculated later, but now it should show up immediately (at least it did on my last order, two days ago)

edit:removed coupon code...whoops he he

How do WD drives compare to IBM and Maxtor? I realy need a high capacity drive right now, looking at the WD and Maxtor 80gb Drives, and the IBM 75GXP 75gb drive. I know IBM is top quality, and Maxtor is absolute crap (have had two die on me in three years), but don't know much about western digital other then the 2gb $400 hard drive I used in my old 486 still works perfectly.

Chu, your maxtor die on you means you are the unlucky one, some pples HD never die even after 10 years and some dies after a week, just b/c you have 2 maxtors in the past doesn't mean anything, i used to have 6 WD and it all die on me and yet I still buy it, btw, i have tried Maxtor, IBM, and WD(the Sam's club deal) hasn't die yet, get urself a UPS and it should last longer.

I've got three Maxtors in my rig (20, 30 & 40GB 7200RPM) ranging from 14-21 months old in a rig that WAS OCed 34% for A YEAR. No probs, nothing dying, it's all good.

I've been leary of WD drives cuz they chatter and rattle too much for my comfort, though the deals are getting KILLER. Beast Buy has a 60GB WD (7200RPM) for $200 AND they give you a $75 Gift Card. Sheesh. Too bad I'm not building a new rig until I see what the nForce chipset has to offer.

I don't see how you got it for $207. It's $239, and 10% of that is $23.90. So that would only bring it down to $215.10. And that's without shipping and tax, if any. If I'm missing something here please let me know. Thanks...

Seems like we have a Maxtor vs. WD vs. IBM vs. Quantum debate every few weeks...

One thing to keep in mind is that just it is incredibly hard to generalize about an entire BRAND of hard drive. Drives released this year likely have nothing in common with the drive mechanisms from manufacturers released just a year ago. Yes, the IBM Deskstar rocks. But I assure you the IBM drive that came in my first PC was nothing short of total crap.

Go to StorageReview.com, and read the review. Make your decision based of reviews of the particular drive you're interested in, NOT the company. All of these companies will work with you on warranty issues.
