Dell Home is carrying this 200GB Hard Drive for $299.95
Also search for "A0080850" to add RJ-45 CAT6/5e Patch Cable to your shopping cart for $3.95
Dell Home is currently offering 10% off on both the itmes
During checkout, apply $35 off $300 STACKABLE coupon code on it (Expires 07/03/2003)

Be careful guys, Dell realy sucks at shipping peripherals (such as these) and time is of the essence since there is a rebate involved. Not to say that this is still a very hot deal.

I disagree. I've always received prompt shipment of peripherals from Dell. I regularly get notices saying order will be delayed, and without fail the thing arrives the next day. They're online order tracking is horribly inaccurate.

oops, forgot to put in text : )

i just bought this drive, (used the sandisk256mb cf as filler)
but i was wondering about the warranty on it? my gxp60 died (horribly) on me a couple weeks back, and i thought ibm/hitachi's rma replacement thing (its been about 2 years that ive had it) was pretty good, even though it sucked majorly that the drive crapped out in the first place.

i guess what im trying to ask is if the warranty on this drive 3 years or 1 year?

thanks

geez...put after MIR SOMEWHERE in your title and post!

"Exclusive Rebate" doesn't necessarily mean MIR

unfortunately warranty is not necessarily 3 years. I have an 8MB cache maxtor that is only good for a 1 year warranty

I'd also like to know about the controller card. In the review of this drive at StorageReview, they say "In its retail packaging, Western Digital includes a Promise Ultra133 controller for those whose motherboards don't integrate native 48-bit LBA support." However, there is no mention of the interface card at Dell, and at the Western Digital site, they make it SOUND like you may need to buy the card seperately. MY MB doesn't support 48bit addressing, so I'd need the card. That would make or break the deal, as it's $35 to buy it seperately.

In order to access over 137G (128G binary), the a BIOS uses a newer form of addressing the HD sectors, where they have gone to 48 bits. (over the old 38 bits?) You don't actually have to have 48 bit addressing in the BIOS because the HDs come with software that can go around the limitation, although people might prefer not use it.

Talking about their S/H. I have had 1 VERY BAD expierence with them and it is currently still pending.

I ordered that Canon A70 powershot with kingston 256MB CF card on 5/4/2003. I got the estimated ship date of 5/21 for Cannon and received the CF card the day before my rebate form needed to be post marked..

Today is now 7/3/2003 and I still do not have the Canon A70!!! They have adjusted my estimated ship date 4 times, and when I call them up to say YES PLEASE STILL SEND IT TO ME, DO NOT REFUND THE 230.00!(Which is a great price for the camera!) They have nothign to say expect sorry buddy!

Anyone else have this problem... I ordered from them 4 other times and their delivery time has been OK, not awesome...I guess when you order hot items this happens, but come on...I think they just do not want to sell me the camera for $235!!
