CircuitCity has the Western Digital 160GB 8MB Cache Drive for $180 - $70 rebate - $30 rebate = $80 w/ free shipping.

The HD's are packaged in a clear plastic box so you can see the hard drive label inside. Look for 200GB on the label.

The label should read

WD2000
MDL: WD2000JB

That is the 200GB @ 8MB

Hmm...so could any of the Circuit City 120GB $30 or $40 HDD rebates be applied to this one?

It's kinda hard to tell from the CC eRebates forms (YB270, YB272, YB273), but it would certainly be a sweet deal. See 120GB drive thread here.

Won't you have trouble getting the rebates when you mail in a UPC off a 200GB drive?

Probably not. I've seen another deal like this a few weeks ago, the packaging is for a 160gb drive, but you get a "bonus" 200gb in the box. This happens from time to time on other things too when the manufacturer is running low on units or phasing out an older model, etc.

I got a 48x24x48 burner in my box that was supposed to be 48x12x48

Yeah, I got several 8MB cache JB (jumbo buffer) WD and Maxtor drives in boxes that were supposed to be 2MB drives. Things like that are always nice bonuses.

I got several 52x24x52 Benq drives, in the I/O Magic 48x16x48 CD-RW boxes, that I got from OM for $20 each last month.

You're right though, this "200GB in 160GB box at CC" deal, is actually a repost from a few weeks back. I would be surprised if any were left. Even for a 160GB, that's still a decent deal though, at $70 AR.

might as well give a bit more information, if i remember right sams drive was $120, , and since cc is ~$180 you pm to sams to 120 then take off 100 dollars in rebates that 20, now if you want to push it you can try and use a staples coupon of 20 off 100 and get this drive with them paying youa couple cents not counting tax.

Btw this deal came from fatwallet.

Sam's? You mean Sam's Club? Since when has Wal-Mart offered hard drives? Also, PMs to membership outlets are not supposed to work. CC has also refused to print my rebates after a PM (Meaning I have to purchase then bring to CS for a 110% PM). I still wonder if those rebates qualify (They could simply invalidate the transaction code).

yep, meant sams club, according to the csr i talked to they sometimes pm to sams club. and the main one is a mail in rebate to wd . the other argument people at fw stated was that sams has a 1 day pass that allows 10% price to be added to item without being a member. in the event the price match works and the cc rebate doesnt work, your still only out 30 dollars off which brings it to 60 dollars AR or if you use the coupon and that works 40 ar. if it doesnt work the first time come back later and try and pm with different csr. call first and ask if they pm to sams club as well as bring the internet printout. get the persons name if they say they do , and when you go, they HAVE to give it to you, they mostly like will anyways after you say you called, but if they dont give the name.also according to fatwallet you want to avoid managers, i went late at night and the manager had gone home. got the 2 rebates, none state price matching affects them in any of the fine print, all im saying is it worked for me and im the proud owner of an ata controller card and 200gb drive for $15(i didnt try for the coupon, 15 dollars is more then cheap enough for a 200gb in my opinion)

edit:
might as well add a few links...

FW thread :
Linky

CC drive

Sams Club Drive

edit again: one thing i noticed was not mentioned in the FW thread was that i went to the CS department to buy my product.ive noticed its ALOT easiar to pm there as they are more geared toward pleasing the customer then strict adhearance to the pm policy. plus it saves a trip, i pmed at checkout and left with rebates and drive in hand.

edit a third time: i misread your post, i thought you meant that the rebates would not go through, but they have the same exact forms on the internet. here

$30
$70

I just did this, PriceMatch To Sams Club and then send in the rebates. I hope they come through.

I also Got the 200GB drive that was in the 160GB package :) Yaaayyyyy!

Their was 1 left at my local Circuit City. :)

So about how much did I pay for Gb? 119.94 - 100 = 19.94

That's 200/19.94 = 10cents per gig....

Checked yesterday - none left with 200gb drives in the local CC. I got a pair of these when it happened for $100 AR from Best Buy, which was sweet with the Rewards Card. No luck this time though... g'luck to everyone else!

Got one at the Countryside, IL CC. Looked for the 200GB, got 160GB and showed CSR the Sam's Club printout. Paid $122.64 (113.82+7.75%tax). CSR asked for my address and zip code w/c printed out with the 2 rebate forms.

In and out in 15 minutes. :)

Final price.... $122.64 - $70 MIR - $30 MIR + $.74 stamps = $23.38/160GB = 15 cents/GB. :D

You could use the internet rebates, right?

Yes, but I must send a scan of my receipt. If they read it manually or run the transaction code, they can determine that there was a price adjustment. I know Best Buy will refuse a rebate at this point, but I don't know about CC.

Just got back from CC and successfully pricematched to Sams. The lady didnt even look at the printout of the Sams webpage. She straight away gave me the 110%. Now hopefully I'll get the rebates or this deal is going to turn out to be ice cold.

No trouble at all. The box and UPC are for the 160 GB drive. But its a 200 GB drive inside. I did this deal a month ago, already got the rebates.
