Citibank has BVG on their ClickCiti card which was discontinued some time ago. But if you happen to still have that card (they only stopped taking new applications for it) you can do BVG although I have no experience in how good they are about it. I have the card but have never tried to use the BVG feature before.

Edit: I have no idea if there are any other cards with Citibank that have the BVG. I only know of the ClickCiti Mastercard. Additionally the ClickCiti was an internet only card, it has no magnetic stripe so they can't scan it at the machines in retail stores. Although I suppose they could type the account number in, shrug.

It doesn't matter, you can't get them anymore. If you have one, you can call 800-377-7200 to see if your's has the coverage.

I was only describing the card in case somebody has it and forgot about it, yea thats it. Anyway if you DO have it you still have the BVG feature, the Extended Warranty feature (if the warranty is less than one year), Purchase Assurance (if you break or have something stolen within 90 days), some other crap, and of course the Internet price protection. While you can only use the card to buy stuff online you can price match local circular ads. The max is 5k per year and up to 1k per purchase. Theres a bunch of exclusions but none of them are unreasonable as far as electronics go. Mostly its refurbished, plane tickets, services, shipping differences etc etc.

I already did this deal last month and Amex BVG only works once for any one item now. 🙁 It worked great for me:

Price paid........................$299.99
Michigan sales tax 6%......$18.00

BVG PM to $176.00........-$123.99😉
MIR $120.00..................-$120.00🙂

Grand total ....................$74.00😀

Just bought one as well. Going CA w/ tax (damn!) $300.00 using 2nd day air shipping.

That comes out to be around $82 after rebates and BVG. Not as good as your out of state folks!

If anyone wants to do this and make some money, I will paypal the money to you - leave me a pm if interested.

I have regularly used AMEX BVG to PM a retail WD drive to an OEM drive. Never had a question about retail vs. OEM or any mention rebate availability on the item being PM'd.

I used this deal twice in the last month to buy a pair of WD800BB drives for approx $45 each (one from BB and one from Outpost). Both PM's were approved and paid within a week to ten days . . .

artist99--- you said:

The final receipt DOES NOT have any mention of the rebate.

Do you mean the printed receipt that comes with the actual product? Because the onscreen order confirmation and the confirmatory email I received tonight BOTH mention the rebate...

I've got a biz gold card but have never used Amex's BVG. How do you confirm the low price with Amex? Do you: call it in? e-mail the URL and other info? fax in a receipt and copy of the website? or something else?

Call 800-322-1277 when you are ready. They will tell you what to do. I have always faxed the documentation, it's cheaper than a stamp.

Good news
I got in on this in the end of June, and I received $130 back from AMEX BVG about 3 wks ago; so it did work for me!

BAD news :Q
I sent an email to WD a couple days ago to see if they received my rebate submission. You will not believe the nerve they have...

WOW! I did call WD yesterday and then they told me to mail this to WD at a different PO Box then stated in this email reply.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS REBATE SUBMISSION make backup copies (as you should with any rebate - esp high $ items) before submitting.

where did you PM the Compusa 60G drive to??? I bought one, along with a Turtle beach/logitech z-540 combo, I'd love to take advantage of it....

Just signed up for the Amex card. Got approved instantly but I have to wait 7 - 10 days for the actual card. Looks like I'll (and others like me) will have to wait for another deal. But, I have a feeling this isn't a one time thing 😉

I am kinf of new to this. I really don't know what BVG means. Could someone tell me what that stands for. I do have an AMEX card, and I would love to get this deal. Any help would be appreciated.

Please try not to keep littering this forum with fraud threads. Again, this is another case of using Amex to pm a retail product with an OEM. The model number without a RTL at the end of it indicates OEM.

BVG means Best Value Guarantee, which means that for 60 days after your purchase, American Express Gold and Gold Business cards will pay you back the difference if you see a cheaper price offered. Call them at 800-322-1277 for information.

SO does that guarntee work with AMEX Blue. I read some stuff when I got the card, but not sure if that is exactley ho it works.

bvg is no longer a feature on the blue card.

Would you believe I missed this deal last time by getting my AMEX card late by one day. 🙁

I then got impatient and ordered it from newegg last friday.

Looks like I'm sending it back when it arrives.
